Hiking area

A beautiful park with breath-taking sandstone formations and stunning views of the mountains, Garden of the Gods is a popular tourist destination in Colorado Springs. It's perfect for outdoor activities, with plenty to see and do, including hiking trails and a visitor center.

Breathtaking!! We arrived early and was able to get a good parking spot. The Visitor's Center was really informative and cool. The gift shop has some really nice items and the staff was nice. We walked the trails and took some amazing pictures. Nature is beautifully created. And it's free, you can't beat that.

Kay L — Google review

Such an amazing experience! There are short walks and longer walks. A nice public restroom next to parking lot 2. The visitor center is awesome! They have a nice little gift shop and you can pick up a map there. It also has some amazing views too! It also has a little cafe if you want to grab coffee or snacks before going hiking.

Selena D — Google review

Beautiful rock formations. You will be greeted with balanced rock with a narrow road to the visitor centre. The road is a loop with various scenic spots. I believe the place would be more beautiful during dawn or dusk. Great for hiking, walking or just being with nature !!

Rishikesh N — Google review

Our first stop was at the Visitor’s Center. The man at the information desk was helpful and courteous. Since we were pushing a baby stroller he pointed the paved route for us. The view from the Center is beautiful and a great place for pictures. It is a good idea to bring water. While the paved hiking is not strenuous the dry climate will leave you thirsty!

Richard B — Google review

Such an amazing and majestic place. This was a great place for the whole family. The scenes are gorgeous and the kids loved climbing around on the rocks. It’s super clean and the paths are well taken care of. Add it to your “must-see” list. You won’t regret it.

Stevie T — Google review

This place is amazing. Such beautiful vistas, I could spend an entire day just taking it all in. You can drive your car up the road and there's a parking lot that meets a trailhead. The path is concrete and well maintained. In fact, the entire area is meticulous. We got a good way down the path and turned back because it started to rain. But this is a wondrous place that is good for the soul.

Nathan W — Google review

Truly a must-see!! Got to cross this off my bucket list. Firstly, it is FREE to the public. There are many places to find different views, and they are all breathtaking. And there is at least one wheelchair accessible trail, and all of the parking lots are accessible minus scenic pull off points. Be prepared for very strong wind gusts and beautiful mule deer 🦌 The trading post is massive and the folks are nice. Please donate to help maintain the park, if you can afford it!

Molly F — Google review

We visited on a Monday afternoon, not too crowded. The visitor center is really cool, all the touch screens actually work! The staff were very helpful and the gift shop has some cute stuff. Everything is very accessible on the paths, if you have a wheelchair or stroller you can navigate safely. It’s a great time and it’s free! The weather was great, just a little snow here and there.

Corey G — Google review

Absolutely amazing place to venture. We spent hours enjoying the sights and could have easily spent longer. There are many trails. Animals to watch for. The restrooms are very well maintained, as is the whole park. Dog, kid friendly. There are areas that are not mobility friendly for wheelchair access and strollers, but there are plenty of other areas to explore that are.

Kayla E — Google review

It's absolutely beautiful. Did the Siamese Twins trail. It was a little tricky to stay on coarse. We started at the trading post, its probably better from the actual trailhead. the paths were clear but it just wasn't clear if you were on the correct path. The map was not too helpful. But we had GPS on so could always see where the trading post was and the other people on trail were helpful in letting us know if we were on the right track. But aside from that the scenery is absolutely amazing. We saw deer and a cute, way too accustomed to humans squirrel. And lots of cool birds. Could spend all day just staring at the beautiful views of valleys hills and rock formations. Super grateful there is no charge to enter, although we did our part by spending money in the gift shop and trading post!

Leila D — Google review

It doesn't matter whether it's your first time or you've been a hundred times it will always be breathtaking and connect you with nature no matter what time of year it is! The drive is absolutely beautiful through the park. Trails are well maintained and many are handicap accessible. Access to Rampart Road will take you on a fun 4-wheeling drive.Bucket list stop for visitors for sure. Beautiful trading post with lots of local gifts.

Amanda T — Google review

Unique, wonderful, picturesque place to go for a hike/walk.Mountain Biking, there is a designated area for mountain biking.Only downside, it is so popular that it can be a bit crowded and difficult to find parking at times. Most enjoyable at off-peak times.

J C — Google review

This was amazing. It was so cool to see and actually walk around and climb on these rocks. So many trails and spots to park. There are some trails that are shared with horses. So watch out for horse droppings. They even have picnic areas with tables so you can bring your own food and eat with your family and friends. Pretty cool to actually see and touch all that stuff. One of my favorite spots I found.

Isaac S — Google review

they have a cafe in the visitors center and a cute gift shop. there are plenty of paved paths to walk along around the park, along with dirt paths that are less busy. we saw many people climbing on the rocks and the weather was great so there were many animals wandering around. lots of birds too

Jade F — Google review

My overall experience has been incredible here. Definitely not a place that you get to explore in a few hours or even a whole day. I'd say to plan the spots that you want to explore and revisit if you have time. If you are a hiker, on the map the Scotsman Picnic Ground has a great trail, just watch out for horse poop everywhere as this is a pretty popular riding for horse owners.

Carla C — Google review

Such a beautiful place! I went hiking one day but didn’t get to see everything before the sun went down. I went back the next day to catch the sunrise and see what I missed the day before. There are so many cool things to see all over the place.I went later in the day on the first day so it wasn’t too crowded. The same for the sunrise, there was hardly anyone there. So amazing that there’s no charge for this park!

Steph W — Google review

The Garden of the Gods in Colorado is a breathtaking destination with a truly unique aesthetic. The stunning rock formations are a sight to behold. There are numerous trails catering to different intensity levels, making it perfect for all types of hikers. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend a visit!

Michelle B — Google review

It goes without saying that this place is beautiful. The visitors center was really nice all kinds of information about the area. It was a little bit crowded but it seemed to be pack with the kind of people who loved where they were so it was great vibes. My kids loved it and didn't want to stop hiking. There is a lot of area roped off I'm sure with good reason but i wish we could explore around off the path a little bit.

Kristina C — Google review

This was my first time in Colorado Springs and this is a must see. The park is easy to drive in and through. The actual area is at the foot of the mountains and not in the mountains. The terrain is easy to walk. I has areas for you to walk and many, many people do that. It has areas to bike ride and it also has places to horse ride. The are separated places so you can enjoy whatever you are choosing to do. You can drive through the area and it is a nine mile trip, I was told. You can take a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery. The trails are wide and well worn so that anyone can walk them. There is a lot of traffic but it is worth the effort and be ready to take pictures. You could definitely spend a day just walking and riding. Loved it. There is a trading post there as well. and the nature center is kinda nice but average.

Tom B — Google review

Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Colorado Springs area. Best of all, this park is free to the public. Parking is free at the visitor center but it can fill up quickly during the day. There are plenty of parking spaces with free shuttle about 5 minutes from the visitor center. You can drive into the garden but there are limited parking spaces there. There are lots of hiking trails but if you are looking for a short hike, the park rangers will recommend the 1 mile paved loop around the famous rock formations not far from the visitor center. If you are interested, you can buy tickets for a 45-minute Jeep tour around the entire park for $20 per person. There are bikes for rent as well. This park is open from 5 AM to 10 PM in the summer. We also visited the park the following day to take pictures and see the sun rise over the rock formations. It was beautiful and there were very few people in the park during sunrise.

Peter T — Google review

Immaculate, breathtaking, mind boggling. These words don't even begin to describe the feelings you get when you try to think about how everything about these dwarfs your existence. When it comes to the time and resources at play to bring you these amazing views. Recommend watching the 15 minute video at the visitor center to get an idea of how these formations can't about.

Gerid ( — Google review

Free to enter. I wished one of the main parking lots was bigger, it took awhile to find a parking space. You have to sit and wait for people to leave. Hiking is easy and you can go as leisurely as you want. It’s better to do this one in the morning to avoid the massive amounts of tourists coming. You can easily spend a few hours here.

Nicholas P — Google review

No doubt this place is one of the best small hike locations to explore in the area. Lots of beautiful views and hiking paths. Bring water and make sure to stay hydrated. I would also advise proper shoes that cover your ankles and toes, the sand is red and will dust your shoes with a fine coating (easy to clean off, but be aware it's part of the experience) all in all, I highly suggest this park.

TJ D — Google review

Beautiful, great place to walk your dogs (just keep them on their leash and clean up if they go to the bathroom). Lots of parking, great walking paths. Welcome center and visitor center has lots of great info and a little cafe.

Nicole K — Google review

This place was absolutely beautiful. We made a trip out to pick up my daughter and she encouraged us to check it out before we left. They did have a picnic area, restrooms, and if you’re into rock climbing they had designated areas for that as well! I would love to fly back to Colorado and explore this place some more!

Amber R — Google review

Visiting Garden of the Gods was an awe-inspiring experience. Nestled in Colorado Springs, this natural landmark boasts stunning geological formations, with towering red rock spires and balanced boulders set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains. The beauty of the park is breathtaking, and the array of colors, especially at sunrise or sunset, is simply mesmerizing. The well-maintained trails offer easy access to explore the landscape and get up close with the unique rock formations. Each viewpoint and trail presents a new perspective of the park's grandeur, making it a photographer's paradise. The visitor center was informative, providing insights into the geological history and the natural ecosystem of the area. Garden of the Gods is not just a feast for the eyes but also a place that ignites the imagination and offers a peaceful retreat into nature. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates natural beauty and geological wonders.

If you visit Colorado Springs this is a must see place. Scenery is unbelievable. There's plenty of hiking trails and multiple stops that are just amazing. We spent about 3 hours there and we were in total awe. Don't forget to visit the Visitors Center. Great way to learn the history. Also, look for the kissing Camels.

What a cool park. It felt like being in a national park, but it was free! Between Red Rocks and Garden of the Gods, we enjoyed this so much more because of the longer trails, more hiking options, and the freedom to walk among the rocks. What a treasure in Colorado. Definitely worth the 1-hour drive down from Denver. 🧡

Justine B — Google review

Must visit place in Colorado Springs, CO.Loved the transition of colors by the evening and view of different mountain rock formations. Really the Garden of Gods.Could spend entire day here on the trails and view spots.Got well maintained parking spots, trail heads and restrooms.

Inferno D — Google review

Amazing views! The sidewalks are well kept and mostly level for people who are not used to hiking. There are plenty of off road hiking trails around the property.

Matthew A — Google review

Nice place to take a hike on or bike different trails. You can picnic here and see some amazing rock formations. It's nice to just drive through also if not the walking type.

M M — Google review

A place of awe and wonder. Walk the many paths around the rocks, and see some nice views of Pikes Peak in the distance. I go here as often as I can to enjoy nature

Nicholas G — Google review

Climbing is epic! As a new outdoor climber, the grades are sandbagged. There are few bolts, we used trad gear on most sport routes. The first bold is often 15ft+ from the ground, may not be able to get it even with a stick clip. Not a place I would recommend for beginners, but for those up for the challenge, it is a playground of old classic routes with incredible views.

Sharie D — Google review

Incredible experience. We chose to do the audio guided tour in our vehicle. There are many places to park along the way and explore on foot. The views of Pikes Peak were great once the clouds clear.

Chase G — Google review

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. No joke. There is something for everyone here! There are concrete sidewalks throughout the park, as well as more primitive trails with some elevation if that’s your thing. The visitor’s center is also very nice.

Kenny S — Google review

Love the formations, but not all the tourists... we go when it's not expected to be bust, much better people wise. Big park, drive around to the different spots and park, lots to see. Don't step in the red clay mud, it will ruin your shoes.

Hakidoshi S — Google review

Fun experience walking around and seeing the formation of the rocks there and the surrounding areas. The park is kept very clean and tidy. You can see caution signs if you're not clear if you can go or do certain things. Maps are well placed around to make sure you know where you are at all times. People there are friendly and the views are even better. Everywhere you look is a sight to see. You can also see people climbing on the rocks. Its cool to see them climb, especially if they are setting up the line.Traffic is not that bad, but I didn't go at their peak times. It was open till late, which was great as we got to see the sunset.

Waterfall

Nature & Parks

Helen Hunt Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Cheyenne Canyon Open Space Park in Colorado Springs. The waterfall is free to visit and can be accessed from the parking lot. The waterfall has a hiking trail that leads beyond it.

There wasn't much of a waterfall when we visited but it was still beautiful to see! Would go back and try again another time when I'm back in Denver.

M J — Google review

My favorite hike for the past eight years to take my little boys too. It’s absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful waterfall and a quick hike full of stairs too the top view in which they feel accomplished doing always. My three year old wakes me up begging to go climb the mountain. If you haven’t been here it’s definetly worth going and free.

Shreena A — Google review

They are worth the stop to get a family photo. Not the most impressive falls, but very pleasant 15-20 minute stop. A great trail head to the old rail bed trail.

Kevin W — Google review

Free and beautiful place to go! I will be going back, very accessible for my husband who has trouble walking long distances you literally park and the falls are right there. Also many different trails you can take if you want to hike/ explore

Leeann O — Google review

Beautiful waterfall located in North Cheyenne Cañon Park of Colorado Springs. The falls are named in honor of Helen Maria Hunt Jackson, a United States poet and writer who became an activist for bettertreatment of Native Americans. There's a nearby parking lot and the fall is easily accessible from the parking area. I recommend going early in the morning or during weekdays because the parking lot gets full easily. If you hike all the way to the top of the fall you have a trail that leads you to another water fall called silver cascade waterfalls. The view at the silver cascade waterfalls is beautiful and overlooking the mountains..The trail has some stip elevation but paved. Overall a nice and scenic trail..

Manny A — Google review

Really lovely waterfall. I went after the visitors center was closed for the year and it was definitely still worth going to admire the beautiful falls. We saw some deer driving into the site. I'd love to go back and hike the trail!

Sierra M — Google review

A beautiful waterfall that can be viewed without any significant hiking. There are many hiking trails in the area for those that want to explore the area. There is also a small shop/visitor center near the falls.

Brian G — Google review

Really nice and peaceful place. My family really enjoyed the area. The visitors center was informative and the people working were very friendly.

S W — Google review

Free but small parking area to the falls. It doesn’t cost anything to walk to the falls, it’s a short walk to the base of the falls. There are benches and an overhang that provides shade. It is wheelchair accessible to the base of the falls. It’s only about 15 steps to climb up to the bridge above the falls which is not too challenging. The stone wall provides great hand holds if needed. It’s definitely worth going to the top near the bridge for the view. Beyond the falls you can hike further up which consist of some stairs throughout the hike up, though has a handrail.Definitely worth stopping if on Gold Camp Road.

Tam H — Google review

The stairs are good for some laughs and taking your time to the top. The views are great and the sound of the water is calming.

Eve R — Google review

Beautiful ….. lovely ….. amazing….. it is so beautiful and worth visiting. The hike is short and less stressful. We had a small picnic there. So relaxing. Be sure to collect you stuffs and trash. We need to keep our nature clean and intact. Start early morning or late noon. Best time to Beat the heat during summer.

Tas A — Google review

A beautiful place to visit and cherish before the Hate and Cancel culture renders Helen Hunt Falls an uncomfortable environment.

Stephen T — Google review

Amazing scenery and not too much of a hike. Definitely go check this place out!

Daniel S — Google review

Great spot. No hiking needed to see waterfall. But you could hike along the waterfall to see more too! Easy to park as well!

JP T — Google review

Wonderful sight to see while hiking at North Cheyenne Canyon Park. So many great trails and views from here.

B A — Google review

You can visit just the falls at the parking lot, or take a hike up to the top and get a good view of Colorado Springs. Many steps, though!

Rudy - — Google review

This place is beautiful!!!!! Not too much of a walk but I suggest this for anyone that wants to take pictures and see a natural beauty. The fall colors were truly amazing and held on for a long time this year. Watch your step as it can be a little slick near the falls.

That S — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous waterfalls and hike! The views are spectacular and it was well worth the trip to see the beauty of the falls and the scenery all around.

Ellie P — Google review

It’s a tiny fall with hiking trails around. You will not have any cellular reception in this area.

Khadanga N — Google review

Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is, take water with u if u plan to go the full way its steep and im average height I'd say and some stairs were a little shorter than knee high so think BIG steps lol and enjoy 😉

Brooke T — Google review

Easy to difficult hike following water from bottom to top. If you drive all the way up fall is right there. Great spot to just get away from the city while not being to far from it. Also it's close to the zoo so good for a double feature day.

Thomas S — Google review

Covered in snow but still a great hike from the North Cheyenne parking.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Theme park

Cave of the Winds Mountain Park is a famous tourist attraction located west of Colorado Springs. It features captivating caverns with stunning rock formations, and since being discovered in 1880 it has been a popular tourist destination. There are several tour options available, including spelunking and a zip line & ropes course.

The view from the top of the mountain was absolutely beautiful. There are a number of observation spots for you to take in the view. The souvenir shop was fantastic with such a favorite of gems, cups, clothing, carvings, etc. The tour guide was very well educated and the customer service was a compliment to the field of hospitality. The tour is for all ages and can be completely fairly easily. There are some tighter spaces so I do not suggest wearing a backpack.

Ashley S — Google review

I really enjoyed the cave tour. Anna was an enthusiastic and fun tour guide, and the cave itself was interesting. It was a steady paced 1 hour, and although there were many sets of stairs, it was not a difficult walk. The view from the terrace at the entrance was glorious, and it’s worth the drive just for the view.I also did the “zip line” which is more of a zippy ski lift. The 2 minute ride was not quite worth the $15 price tag, but Paul, the operator was such a kind and interesting young gentleman.

Monica R — Google review

My 11 year old son and I did the discovery cave tour and it was great. Some really cool caves, an entertaining and educational guide as well. Then we did the pioneer pass which was the high ropes course the bat-a-pult and the rock climbing wall. That was also a lot of fun. Hanging over the cliff standing on a spinning tube gets your adrenaline going. I capped it off by doing the Terror-dactyl, which was awesome. I thought everything was a pretty reasonable value. The place is also well ran, lots of staff around and all the staff were well trained, seemed to really care about doing a good job and provided great service. Would recommend spending half a day here.

aproush — Google review

My family and I did the regular tour, and our tour guide was Sonia. She was very personable and funny. They have a time schedule to adhere to so sometimes it felt a tiny bit rushed so that the next group could get into that cavern room, but otherwise I still had time to take plenty photos and videos. I really wanted to buy the photo they took, but my husband and daughter weren’t ready when the photo was taken. It would be great if there was an opportunity to retake photos. There might be, but it wasn’t mentioned and I didn’t ask. We plan to visit again when we visit Colorado next. Def recommend!

Ashley C — Google review

We had a fantastic tour guide, Kira! The tour was engaging and interesting. The cave was full of great features and formations. We had 3 kids this us ages 9 and 11 and they loved the ropes course and climbing wall. This park provided hours of great sights and entertainment for the family.

Terri O — Google review

We had a very enjoyable tour of Cave of the Winds. We had a small tour group (11:45 on a Monday) and a great guide (Olive). She really made the tour fun and interesting for everyone. Spectacular views from the reception area before we ventured into the caves and everyone working there was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend you visit.

Steven L — Google review

This place is a lot of fun there is plenty of things to do including the cave tour. Definitely recommend doing that. I had the bald tour guide (forgot his name, but he made it very fun). I got a good workout walking in it but learned a lot as well. Worth checking out before or after Garden of the Gods.

Kyle W — Google review

I went on an introductory tour for my friend's younger brother, and while it wasn't anything too special by itself, the service was still fast and efficient and the sights were breathtaking. The guide was very thorough and answered questions when asked, pointing out any and all eye-catching details. It was very enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend talking a tour there. I recommend the discovery tour, as I asked about it and was told many positive things. I have attached photos of the caves and surrounding scenery if anyone wants to see. enjoy.

Levi P — Google review

This place was awesome! I really enjoyed the cave tour. It's a really cool place to go to. We had a baby and adults; some areas in the cave are a bit low, so you have to watch your head. The activities are pretty cool. Be ready for an adventure for sure. Everyone in our group had a great time. Very informative tour. I've lived in Colorado practically all my life, and it was my first time visiting. I highly recommend getting out to see it. also has such fresh air.

Yuriana L — Google review

Would give more stars if i could. What a unique and affordable experience! The cave tour was amazing! We did the discovery tour and it was very easy to operate for anyone who may have anxiety/ claustrophobia. Our tour guide was Gale, who was absolutely amazing!!! She is extremely knowledgeable, hilarious, and brought my friends and i much joy. If you are looking for a cave to explore this is the tour! Get there early to soak in the drive up and the observation decks, so beautiful!

Carley M — Google review

Great experience!Amazing view, the discovery cave tour is nice and this ride (Terror-Dactyl) where you go "flying" between the canyons is top notch! My only suggestion is that they could implement a system for "virtual line" for this ride. I had just 8 people on front of me and took a little bit more than an 1 hour in line to go in the ride. I have a small kid so it was challenging, but overall, I would totally go there again. Amazing place :)

Fl?via L — Google review

Had a great time going through the Caverns and our guide Kathrine was amazing. She spoke my language of dad jokes the entire time. My son’s favorite part was when she turned all the lights out and we couldn’t see a thing! It was really cool! I highly recommend this tour!

Matthew H — Google review

We had an absolute blast of a time, We did the lantern tour with Rowan, and it was an awesome experience. She did a great job showing the cave and telling the stories. We had such a good time, we did the discovery tour as well. The caves are natural, so there are some low spots and some slippery spots, as well as stairs. I would recommend if you are scared of the dark or small spaces to stick to the discovery tour. For the lantern tour, Rowan did an awesome job pointing out any obstacles all while keeping the ambiance and flow of the tour. If you've gone through the discovery tour and are looking for a different take on the cave of the winds, I definitely recommend the lantern tour

Braydon L — Google review

Spelunking is pretty awesome. More so when your guide is John. He was very knowledgeable and passionate when touring us. He made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. You do have to do some bending over to pass through the caves. Their are also stairs at certain points. The park also has activities for your children and a cool zip line if you are brave enough. If you are hungry and would like to relax a bit, they have a small restaurant that will whip you up sandwiches, 🍟 and such. Well worth the visit.

Johnny J — Google review

This place is amazing. I came here as a kid, brought the family back and they have made it so family friendly that we stayed ALL DAY, open to close. Mariah our tour guide was very funny and informative. Eric and Ethan on the ropes course and rock climbing wall were awesome to my family. (sorry team the only two names I remembered) whole crew does an awesome job! Very well run team!If you question if this is a great thing to do for kids.... If they're over 42" the answer is YES!

Dan H — Google review

Went to Cave of the Winds today and it was amazing. We did the bats and caves tour and it was stunning. They took us inside the caves and the views and rock formations were very nice. Do be aware though that it can get cold in there due to the fact that you are underground. Overall everyone seemed to enjoy it and I would recommend it for your kids, as they will have fun going inside the caves and exploring. Highly recommend!

Joseph ( — Google review

Super cool cave tour. I did the regular (non-lantern) tour. You explore quite a bit but it's definitely a beginner tour. Flooring is level, smooth, and clean. Nothing to worry about with getting your shoes dirty. Couple ladders you need to climb so if you can't climb a ladder for some reason I wouldn't recommend going. Saw people of all sizes on the tour and everyone made it thru the low height spaces. I definitely want to come back and do the haunted lantern tour!

Daniel O — Google review

My wife and I did the discovery tour. We had about 15 people in our group. The tour lasted about 45 minutes. $26. Our tour guide was Maddie, and she was amazing! She is full of jokes. There are a lot of stairs and a few tight spaces but it was a great experience. I especially loved the part where they turn all of the lights off and you experience cave darkness!

Short T — Google review

This incredible place is located at the top of a small peak in the mountains! It's easily accessible right off the main highway. They offer ziplines and outdoor activities as well as a variety of cave tours. The standard cave tour is about an hour and well worth the money. You will be in a natural cave and have to climb up a few sets of stairs and will be confined to a small space but you can request to leave if your uncomfortable and someone will escort you out. It's absolutely incredible the work they've done on the cave since it was first discovered. They have a small area to hang out and view the mountains and a hut selling snacks and beer/wine products at the beginning of the tour. Be responsible you do have to drive up a cliff side to get here! There's a larger gift shop and cafe once you complete the tour on the other side of the parking lot and large area to enjoy the view.

Jennie J — Google review

First time in a cave and we did the discovery tour and it was awesome! My 6 and 9 year old really enjoyed it, too! Our tour guide Jack was very knowledgeable and educated on caves (he told us he did his undergraduate thesis on that cave which is awesome!). We learned a lot and really enjoyed the whole experience! I would recommend everyone pay a visit to this tour.

It was a great experience for my 3&4 year old. The tour was very doable, the stairway was not a lot although we did have to pick the kids up to go through few parts. The cave itself was alright, since I saw many cave before back in Vietnam I wasn't impressed. On other note, the road to drive up there was quite scary if you are not familiar with the mountains. It had many sharp turn. We came on a Sunday day and no ice on the road, yet I was so scared driving up. I can't imagine the day of snowing and icing would be like. Please be careful driving there.I don't like the fact that they try to take pictures at the beginning of the tour to sell it back to us and didn't let us take pictures at that particular spot.

Absolutely would recommend taking the cave tours! Our tour guide Jeremy made it so fun and exciting while telling us about the history! Thank you so much Jeremy for making this trip so amazing for my dad, aunt, and I!I would also recommend the terydactle ride! It was such an adrenaline rush!

My boyfriend and I originally went on the discovery tour with Slim Jim. It was such a fun experience! We enjoyed learning the history of the Caves. They were amazing to see & crazy to imagine people crawling through these tiny spaces. We ended up taking the last haunted tour of the day. We went during the week so it felt like a private tour. It made everything feel sooo much spookier. Let’s not talk about the scary stuff we experienced in the caves while we were in there….It was such an awesome experience. We took the tour with… I believe her name was Chloe? Cleo? I think she had curly red hair. She was so amazing!! Thank you for the experiences! We’ll be back for sure!

Amazing tours, lantern and non lantern alike. The guides were very informative and entertaining. There’s some tricky stairs along the way, but just pay attention and you’ll be perfectly fine. Cool water pools and stalactites/stalagmites. Even got to see their natural “oriental” rock garden. They also take photos at the beginning of the tour (available for purchase at the end)

Such an amazing experience exploring the caves, everyone was so helpful and friendly. We went to the last tour of the day for the normal tour, there was a climbing tour, and a spooky tour. So excited to check out more, looked like they had zip lining too. Lots of free parking spots.Thank you Adam for the amazing tour!!We came out of the cave the the most beautiful view 🌈 I had a great time

Ethan and Victoria were the best tour guides ever! First Victoria led us through the Manitou Grand Caverns on the haunted lantern tour. She told us all about the history of the caves with such infectious enthusiasm that you almost felt like you were part of the story! She truly loves her job! The tour was so cool and even pretty scary at parts. I would definitely recommend it. We next had the pleasure of having Ethan guide us through the discovery tour. His personality and sense of humor had us cracking up as he led us through the beautiful Cave of the Winds! My pictures don’t do it justice so you’ll just have to go see for yourself and definitely request Victoria and Ethan as your tour guides. You won’t regret it!

We loved the 11 am Lantern Tour with Mariah!! She was a fantastic tour guide with great stories about the history and haunts in the cave. The Cave of The Winds has been open since 1881 so there is definitely a ton of history to talk about. As part of the tour, there is a 250 foot long area of the cave that you mostly have to stoop down because the cave is only 42” at the tallest. This area is the challenging part of the tour. The tour was a good 1 hour and 40 minutes long and well worth the price of admission. Thanks for the memories as we definitely had a GREAT time!! We will be back on our next trip to Colorado.

Wish I had more time to spend there! I went on the discovery tour. Our guide, Sam, was friendly, knowledgeable, and somehow still cracking jokes while most of us where trying to catch our breath. The cave itself is beautiful, and the route through the cave strikes a nice balance between feeling natural while not being claustrophobic. One word of advice: the website recommends bringing a jacket even during the summer months, because the cave stays at about 54 degrees. For my part, I never felt the need to put a jacket on: going up and down the stairs kept me warm enough! Hope to go back someday and try out the haunted tour!

My family and I visited from out of town over last week. It is a bit overpriced (about $110 for a family of four - Discovery Package), but the tour and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. This was my first cave experience and I was truly blown away with information. The view from the patio is breath taking and we loved the photo ops with the stuffed bear and oversized chair. Thank you for the memories.

Had a wonderful day spending time at the Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. My group had Olive as a tour guide and she made the visit something to remember. I still have her funny cute jokes she made stuck in my head. Would recommend visiting the website to view any specials that may be available as well as the different tours they offer. Olive helped demonstrate what the "Haunted Lantern Tour", and it will be something I'll book in the future when I'm back in the area. Wonderful learning about the history and geology of the area and motives for search. After/before the tour, the mountain has many good views and a deck for viewing the scenery.

Demitrius G — Google review

We did the Discovery tour, at $28 a person. That may be a little high, but this tour within the cave was absolutely stunning. It boasts 1/2 mile, and 196 stair steps. That may sound like a lot, but it wasn't. It is not handicap accessible simply due to being a cave, however if you are able to walk and climb semi-steep steps, this is worth it. You do NOT have to be in shape to do this tour.Autumn was our tour guide and she did an amazing job. She was kind, took time to explain different aspects of the cave and its history, and personally I thought her jokes were great.Highly recommend going. Children will love this but you should make sure they keep their hands to themselves as touching parts of the cave can damage the ecosystem and formation of the cave. Adults of all ages will love this as well- we did!

Such a cool tour, and the tour guide Rowen was seriously the BEST!! She made the tour 10x better. Super funny, very knowledgeable and just kept us safe and entertained the entire time. Highly recommend the discovery tour with Rowen.

Jesse M — Google review

The cave, which was discovered in 1881 by two brothers, was only officially opened to public business in the 1990s. A lot of man-made facilities were built before open to the public, they preserved most of the cave while letting the public understand this magical geological structure. These artificial facilities allow most short tourists (tourists who are too tall to easily hit their heads during the trip) to be introduced to the tour by the tour guides. Great place for the whole family to have a little adventure together.

Vick S — Google review

This was a fun experience. Driving up the side of the mountain before you get to the entrance is always exciting. We paid $92 for two kids two adults to do a cave tour. It was neat inside, $92 is a bit steep though. We paid an additional $15 for each child to do an activity outside of the entrance. You could pay $25 each to do all of the activities including the batapult which was the ride over the canyon. The workers were friendly.

I have seen a lot of shows over the years, including many in Vegas and Cosmo’s was the best magic show I’ve ever seen! It is an intimate theater, 3 rows. Loved the intimate setting. He is so engaging! I loved the history of magic that he shared throughout the performance and the magic left me feeling like a little kid again! The ambiance of the lobby was wonderful. The decor was amazing! I will be coming back again!!

This was an awesome way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Kids love the show. Cosmo wonderfully interacts with the children and parents. A unique and visually appealing setting, the experience begins with a reception in a super cool room complete with magic knickknacks and pictures to look at while you enjoy cookies. Cosmo mingles with folks until the theater opens. An expert at sleight of hand, his tricks are wonderful and truly entertaining—I wish I understood how his water on Jupiter trick worked. A memorable experience, a must see for locals and tourists alike.

I had an incredible experience for my first trip to cosmos. I’m an avid Magic fan, specifically when it comes to sleight of hand and I loved getting to see cosmos’ takes on the classic balls and cups as well as some new takes on card magic. The skill level is incredibly high and Cosmos does an incredible job with his crowd work as well. I will be visiting again and seeing his other show as well as looking for any other featured magician shows they put on!

The show was amazing. It far exceeded my expectations... go see it. You won’t regret it! I saw the show with my wife and two teenage children. All of us, regardless of age, though it was outstanding!

WOW, cannot recommend this show enough! Top tier magic, Cosmo does an incredible job trying to incorporate everyone in the audience. The ambiance of the theater is so cool & intimate, there's only 4 rows, all raised so everyone gets a great view of the show. Parking is also super easy. Can't wait to come back & bring my family!

I was invited on a whim, and was not disappointed in the slightest!! The lobby is exquisite as far as decor goes, really brings you into the experience and history of magic as a whole. Cosmo himself puts on a great show; very funny and knows how to work a crowd well. Everyone was participating and having a great time which only fueled his showmanship more. The first trick really blew me away, and each set after the next only kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys being mystified by a skillful magician. Here’s a picture of my friend’s reaction after a trick if you need more convincing of how great this man is at his craft.

Don’t miss this show! We had a party of 10, from 3 yrs old to adult and everyone loved the kid’s matinee…even our teenagers! Fantastic humor and great tricks! I highly recommend it for an unusual and fun event you’ll remember for years to come! ❤️❤️

We had the best time at Cosmo’s magic theater. At first, one of our kiddos was a little apprehensive about the show but within a few minutes he was laughing and enjoying himself. We were all amazed at the wonderful magic tricks and both kids are begging to go back. Thanks for a fantastic show Cosmo, we’ll be coming back soon!

This show was awesome!!! It was Magic for Children Saturday Afternoon and Mr Cosmo himself comes out and introduces himself and speaks to the guests while waiting for the show to start. The host had the kids who wanted to sit in the front rows go in first and their parents and adults followed and sat behind them in the upper rows.Cosmo (the magician) was incredibly engaging with the audience and his magic had the whole front two rows, filled with kids, totally engaged. It's a cute quaint venue with some really cool nostalgic, vintage memorabilia, including posters, pictures and magic tricks on display. We would definitely go again and the smaller venue made the experience memorable and extremely fun.

Such an awesome time. Cosmo and his wife are amazing people. I've been into magic since I was 8 and now at 43 it's nice to see tricks that aren't all over YouTube. It's worth the ticket price just for the 4 card trick. I'll be back for the other shows 🤘👍Edit: made a 2nd visit and it was just as fun and entertaining as the first time. Brought my kids this time (who aren't into magic because Dad is 😂) and they said they even had a blast. They still won't watch any of my tricks 😕😔

My husband and I attended a show for our anniversary and had a blast! The venue is very intimate and sophisticated. Cosmos comes across as very genuine and is highly entertaining. He's great at picking up the vibe of the crowd and drawing people in. Delightful evening and such an elegant lounge area to visit in before and after.

K.C. S — Google review

This place was awesome. My son Luther and I went to his first Magic show (he's 5 years old). On the outside, it just looks like another door in a strip mall, but on the inside, it looks like an 18th-century English parlor. We went to the afternoon kids show and it was so great. Cosmo interacted a lot with the kids, he had classic and simple jokes to go along with well-thought-out and easy-to-follow tricks. My son won't stop talking about it days later.Occasionally some of the older kids would heckle or get a little out of control and Cosmo did a great job with crowd control and reeling them back in.I HIGHLY recommend this, I will definitely be back for his evening show geared towards a grown-up audience.

I took my kiddo and his cousins last year to see Cosmo. They had so much fun! One of my nephews talked about magic for weeks!!!My boyfriend and I went to see Matt Marcy a few nights ago and he was awesome!! It was the perfect date night!!We plan on going back for another show whether with Cosmo or a guest he may have soon!! Definitely recommend going!!

Before travelling over to Colorado Springs from Australia I researched about fun experiences to do while on our holiday and Cosmos Magic Theatre was highly recommended with top reviews. We couldn’t resist, decided to buy tickets to enjoy a fun night of magic and that is exactly what we experienced. Cosmo is amazing and so generous with his time meeting all the guests before the show and taking photos with us at the end. We all immensely had a fantastic time and walked away in awe of Cosmos magic tricks. We highly recommend. If we could we would definitely go again!!!!

Luisa B — Google review

This was a great experience! Highly recommend! From start to finish the husband and wife team treat you like family. The decor was lovingly and thoughtfully put together. A member of our party was not able to make it do to an unforseen issue and they offered an unasked-for refund. The magician is witty and quite skilled. It was a lovely evening. We plan to make it habit to see the show each time we are in town. I would highly recommend for a date night or evening out. Although they apparently have a kid's show, the one we saw (Impossible Things) is more geared to adults and anyone over the age of 12 should find it to be absolutely delightful!

AnneMarie G — Google review

Wow! Cosmo is amazing! I was astonished the whole night. He is witty, fun, and a fabulous magician 🎩! His stories are inspiring, the atmosphere is quaint, comfortable, and welcoming. I was so pleased with coffee, drinks and sweet snacks provided. The decor is wonderful, but it's he that makes the evening one of pure enjoyment. It's a must-see for everyone!

The National Museum of World War II Aviation is an aviation museum located in Colorado Springs, CO that features a large collection of restored aircraft and artifacts from World War II. The museum is also home to a gift shop which caters to aviation enthusiasts from all over the world.

We had such a great time on what is sure to be the first of many visits! It was an incredibly well put together museum, the displays were top-notch and filled with information and pieces of history! The tour was worth the extra $5.00. It was a great way to get perspective and be able to ask questions. Not only did we learn about the aircraft, but about the painstaking details that go into restoring them.Definitely worth the time and money!

Heather B — Google review

This is a must-see stop if you are a museum or history lover… or, even if you are not! The collection of aircraft here is amazing. Equally amazing is that almost all of them are in flying condition and the few that are not are in restoration to be able to fly.Make sure you allocate enough time to make your way through the exhibits. I highly recommend taking the guided tour. It takes about 2 hours and is well worth it. Our docent was very knowledgeable. He spoke to the group at a level that was understandable for the beginner aviation enthusiast and could quickly answer questions posed by the more experienced in our tour group. The displays are nicely arranged. You can get up close and personal with the aircraft and learn details with the accompanying graphics and memorabilia on display.WestPac Restorations is included in the tour so you have a chance to see all the work that goes into restoring these planes.

Edward B — Google review

Awesome place to visit, loved the history and was accurate, which was very refreshing. Even had a witness of pearl harbor (As a child) that gave us a tour and rundown of the restorations. I highly recommend this as a place to visit if you are in the area and want to see real life, actual operable planes from that era.

Carlton C — Google review

I loved getting to see all these planes (which are very real!) along with all the history tied up together in a concise, interesting display that is easy to get immersed in. The massive hangars and diverse collection of vehicles (there are actually ground vehicles, too.) are extremely interesting and well placed to be visible at many angles. a must for aviation enthusiasts!

Levi P — Google review

This museum rivals the Smithsonian in terms of WWII history. Not the easiest to get to but well worth the visit. All the planes on displayed actually fly. Saw several planes Ive never scene in any other museum. The artifacts and attention to detail were incredible. They restore WWII era planes in a separate hangar. A guide shows you each of the projects and was quite knowledgeable. The restoration hangar is included in price of admission as well as two other hangars. Added bonus the day we were there - C130s from Peterson, adjacent to museum, were training. Well worth the admission fee.

Rich M — Google review

This WWII museum is unique in that nearly all of the planes still fly. Great collection of planes, take the guided tour for an extra $5. On the 2 1/2 hrs tour, our guide provided great background on the history of each plane. We'll worth the visit.

Larry O — Google review

This is a wonderful Museum. Very informative and well laid out. The docents are very knowledgeable and entertaining. My husband enjoyed the simulator ride in a biplane that they offered. If you were able to tour the World War two museum in New Orleans and enjoyed that then you will be equally as impressed touring this museum. So grateful to all the men and women who sacrificed to make our world a safer place.

Patricia L — Google review

We had a great time. Visiting the area where the plane restorations was amazing. These guys perform miracles putting these planes back into flying condition. The museum itself has several aircraft to view and a bi-plane simulator that was pretty darn cool. Definitely worth the visit!

Jon M — Google review

Great museum, well worth the time. If you have the time, take the guided tour. It takes about 2 hours but gets you access to Westpac where they rebuild the airplanes. You can reserve a time online. The tour itself is fairly fast paced and skims through a lot of the museum exhibits but focuses on the airplanes themselves. Very friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean, airplanes are beautiful. I will differently stop by again if I'm ever going through Colorado Springs. Thank you keeping them flying!

Zach M — Google review

This place is very unique. It is the only museum of its type where everything isn't roped off. You can walk right up and touch the aircraft. You can stand under them. You can stand beside them. The staff are all very passionate, knowledgeable and experienced. Our tour guide had served in the military using some of the aircraft he was showing. This was awesome for me. It was a great glimpse at our country's history, and the history of our great military. We went on a couple of tours that day and didn't have enough time to spend at this one. I recommend 2 hours at very least. Three would be better. I will be back. I will spend much more time at this museum looking at the sites and listening to the stories of the soldiers turned tour guides.

Erik A — Google review

If you are in Colorado Springs, this is one of the best private museums with World War Two aircrafts that are in flying condition! Museum is near Colorado Springs airport. There is an entrance fee which is very reasonable considering they have to maintain a private museum which is open to the public. There is also a tour hosted by a museum docent to visit the hangar where aircraft restoration is taking place. I learned it can cost between $3-5 million to restore a P-51 Mustang completely to flying condition. We spent about 2 hours here.

Peter T — Google review

Wow, what an amazing and well maintained collection of WWII aircraft. This museum will blow you away with what they have on display, their interactive simulators, and tours to the shop that does the restoration work. Seeing the internal workings of stripped down aircraft at each stage of the restoration process was something you don't get to see often! Dan, our docent, did a great job touring us through the museum and restoration shop. Everyone at the museum was eager to talk and share stories and info on the planes and the exhibits. One of the best museums I've ever been to.

A Wedding Amidst the Wings: An Unforgettable Experience at the National World War II Aviation MuseumAs someone who has visited quite a few museums and attended more weddings than I can count, I was skeptical about how these two worlds could harmoniously merge. But, let me tell you—the National World War II Aviation Museum in Colorado Springs pulled it off spectacularly. From the moment we drove up to the sprawling complex, the vintage planes parked as if ready for a history-rich flight caught our attention. The staff—courteous and attentive—had artfully arranged the aircraft to serve as an awe-inspiring backdrop for the wedding ceremony and photos. It was as if the past had come to celebrate with us, and it was mesmerizing. The ceremony itself was nothing short of magical. Chairs were neatly set up, creating a sense of both intimacy and grandeur, a difficult balance to maintain. The acoustics were incredible; every heartfelt word from the unmic'd officiant and the delicate chords from the violinists resonated beautifully, easily reaching all of us among the nearly 100 guests. After the "I dos," it was on to the reception, which was equally—if not more—memorable. Tables were elegantly prepared, and the venue's wide-open spaces allowed for an array of catering options, a DJ booth, and even a dance floor. The museum had transformed into a venue where history met modern celebration in a dance of epic proportions. What set this venue apart was the museum experience embedded in the wedding festivities. Guests could wander off and explore the exhibits—touching artifacts, reading about incredible war stories, and relishing the unique, detailed models of planes and wartime machinery. This was not just a treat for history buffs but a delightful experience for all attendees. The younger guests were enthralled by the simulators, and I heard more than one kid declare they were going to become a pilot when they grew up. It was heartwarming to see how the museum not only entertained but also inspired. So, whether you're a first-time visitor, a history aficionado, or someone looking for an unforgettable event space, the National World War II Aviation Museum offers an experience unlike any other. As a wedding venue, it exceeded expectations, fusing history, education, and celebration into one unforgettable experience.Would I recommend this venue for a wedding or any other significant event? Without a shadow of a doubt, yes! Come for the history; stay for the celebration. It's an event venue that truly soars.

Wow! I've never been a huge history buff, but I could have stayed here for days! There is so much to read, learn and look at in this museum, and the docents are top notch! A wonderful museum! An amazing number of airplanes and displays with an extremely knowledgeable staff.I love World War II history and this is a great place to see and to learn.I spent a little over two hours on the tour and I still had only seen about 50% of the museum. There is a lot to see!If you have any interest in history, in World War II or even aviation, schedule a visit here. You will not be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing place! Incredible collection of WW2 aircraft all in flyable condition. I had gone to the museum so many times since 2014 I now volunteer there as a Docent. If you are in the area and love history or aviation I highly suggest stopping by!

This museum is AMAZING. We did a 2 hour guided tour with Eric as our guide and it was so interesting. I’m not a huge history buff, but everyone was so enthusiastic and the exhibits were so interesting, the time flew by. We ended up spending over 3 hours there. Almost all of the planes were in flying condition which is unbelievable. Getting to see the restoration process in the workshop was so unique. Verne and John in the simulation area were so wonderful. This place is absolutely worth the trip and you would get the most out of the trip with a guided tour with one of the docents. Everyone in our group said it was the best $5 they’ve spent.

Blown away by this place. My Son and I went to check it out. If we had the time I'm sure we could have spent the whole day here. Only had 2 hours to spend but sheesh the exhibits and the knowledge of the staff and the attention to detail on all of the exhibits was top top notch. We can't wait to return my son's continuously asks to go back. Also afterwards there is a really neat place to grab some food right down the road called the airplane restaurant would recommend going there after.

It a place you must visit when you are in Colorado. Many of the great airlines there including the airplane which was used during the Japanese’s war. Very big museum, tickets are very reasonable. Very clean and organized. You will spent between 1 to 3 hours. I loved every second of it.

Wonderful experience walking through time at this WWII museum. Jim was our tour guide and was informative about the planes and shop equipment repairs. Several bathrooms along the self guided part with short film shows. It's amazing how the planes were built. Would recommend

We traveled about 150 mile round trip to visit this.... and it was so worth it! As noted by the oil catch pans under all the aircraft, just about every one of them is airworthy! Lots to see, and everything is laid out in chronicological order related to World War II events. Even if you choose to tour the museum on your own, you can join a guided tour of a separate hanger where all of the aircraft are worked on at no extra charge.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an award-winning zoo with more than 750 animals across varied terrain. It is only ten minutes from the resort and guarantee genuine animal interactions.

This zoo is so good! If you're local I would definitely recommend a membership as it's a much better deal. We come every couple weeks and the kids are never bored. It's a bit of a hike in places so wear comfy shoes and I always bring my stroller for the younger kids and to pile our stuff on. Feeding the giraffes is always a highlight. Parking is free and they have a few options for eating but we always pack a lunch. Will definitely be returning often!

Melissa B — Google review

Best zoo I've ever been to! The animal enclosures are large with shade and running water. You get to interact with the animals not just stare at them from a distance. Feeding the giraffes was amazing! My kids were excited to stand right next to penguins, wallaby and feed tropical birds. The best part is that the zoo has a timed entry which really helps control the crowd size, we went on Memorial weekend and had zero lines.

Terri A — Google review

I've been to the zoo 3 times in the past year. It's hands down the best zoo I've ever visited. The giraffe feeding experience is so exciting for all ages. But they have several other animal feeding experiences as well. They teach you a lot about conservation with their amazing staff and daily demonstrations. Time entry also keeps the crowds to a minimum so you can get up close with the animals. The Wallabies hopping around at your feet is one of my favorite attractions. And their Primate area is top notch. With informative employees all around to answer questions and teach you more about conservation. The views are breathtaking, and the food is great as well. I recommend the BBQ place first, but the others are also good 👍 and don't forget to visit the Shrine of the sun after the zoo, it's worth the drive up and included in your entry to the zoo.

Tara H — Google review

Fantastic zoo! The giraffe exhibit is my favorite part! Getting to feed the giraffes is such a cool experience! But be sure to walk around the exhibit to feed the giraffes away from the entrance! They want lettuce too! Lots of walking at this zoo, and a decent amount walking up hill. Brings lots of water!! And sun hat and sunscreen highly recommended!

Cara C — Google review

Incredible zoo experience! The exhibits present in a more natural environment being on the side of the mountain. All the zoo staff we have encountered have been very friendly and knowledgeable. The food court is awesome! Very easy to navigate and great prices for what is offered. The sky ride is a must as long as you're not afraid of heights. The view at the top is absolutely beautiful. The HUGE win associated with this zoo is the ability to feed the giraffes and have that interactive experience. The kiddos absolutely love it and adults do too!

We stopped here after flying in from FL and it was such a beautiful fun zoo. They had so much to offer and it was a very pleasant place to visit. The animals were so well cared and beautiful. A little hard to walk up and down the hills for this FL girl but we just loved it and took our time.

If you’re looking for up in your face animal experience’s, this is definitely it!!!! I’ve never experienced anything to this caliber and I fell in love with Cheyenne mountain zoo!!! Absolutely family friendly for every age, and lots to explore in a day here!!!! It is on a mountain, so expect trekking steep pathways. I can even begin to talk about the views all around!!! Every where you look is just stunning. Easily the best zoo I’ve ever been to and now have high expectations moving forward.

This is the best zoo in Colorado. It’s worth the drive from Denver if you’re interested. The animals are well taken care of and always active and fun to watch. The giraffe feeding is up close and personal and just a great time. The restaurants have an amazing view of downtown Springs. Also, the interactions with zoo keepers are everywhere! They even walked the penguins around with the visitors. Don’t miss the charm of this great zoo!!

COZY AND UNIQUE LITTLE ZOO! LOVE GIRAFFES? MUST SEE!The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a little out of the way but well worth it. I've been to tons of zoos but this one was unique in its location and a far more relaxing experience than some of the larger zoos in the states. If you love Giraffes, this is a must stop. There are eateries on site with amazing views from decks and a one-of-a-kind view from the gandola lift up and down the mountain.

Amazing zoo experience. Just WOW to the people that trained the Grizzly bears. They are so trained and is so fun to watch. I felt like a kid watching that. Besides that organization in the zoo is perfect. The water fans are amazing for this summer season. The feeding experiences are with it. Highly recommend

I loved this zoo! What a beautiful day it was. I enjoyed feeding the giraffes ($3 or $5 bundles). They've got other animals you can feed as well. It was a little crowded today. Definitely recommend it to others. Parking is free. Remember to purchase your tickets in advance too.

Lily — Google review

I am only giving 3 out of 5 because they have the sky ride. That’s a major bonus. If it didn’t, I would give 2/5 based on animals and presentation. Staff was nice and helpful. Also, you can feed the giraffes, hippos, and elephants during certain times of the day which was pretty cool. You can pet the goats and giraffes fairly easily. It is high elevation so required comfortable shoes. You can pay $3 for all shuttle.

Shaneequa H — Google review

It was one of the best zoos I have ever visited. I like that they have a set number of allowed visitors per day, which helps to keep the zoo less crowded and allows for a better quality exploration process. You definitely want to buy tickets in advance because there is no chance you get them at the gate. I have to say, tickets are very reasonably priced for a large zoo like that. Plus, they have military and senior discount. We ended up walking around the zoo for hours. There is so much to see and do! Excellent location for the whole family. You can feed giraffes and budgies, admire elephants, and rhinos, enjoy the picturesque views of Colorado Springs and Cheyenne Mountain during the Sky Ride, and much more.

Olena V — Google review

This is one of the best zoos we have visited. The fact that is is built on a mountain was amazing. We went on 10/8/2023, the weather was great and the animals were active. Their enclosures seemed like their natural habitats. But even if the animals were not as active, the scenic views are breath taking. Love how they made look out spots to take the sites in. I have already recommended this place to other friends and family making a trip to Colorado Springs. We are from Bryan, Texas and would definitely go again when we make a trip back that way.

Mike H — Google review

This zoo is one of the best I have been to. It’s built on the side of a mountain and it is so beautiful. The highlight is the 16 member giraffe tower which you can purchase lettuce to feed them anytime from opening to closing. Plus check out the animal encounters, they are fantastic! Some of the animals will even paint you a picture during the encounter. I highly recommend them. Check their website for details. You can easily spend the day.

Linny — Google review

Was great to be able to finally visit after hearing wonderful reports of the experience.Visited with a toddler and a 7 year old who loved the experience especially feeding the giraffes (take cash for the lettuce) and the budgies! If you have a toddler bring a STROLLER or something they can be carried with or your biceps are going to get a workout at altitude! For any South Africans feeling homesick you can see the penguins from Boulder Beach!

Greg M — Google review

It is very windy near the entrance but gets better as you go. The zoo is 6,000 feet above sea level, so dress warm 😀 gloves are a must, especially for the little ones. Overall, the zoo is very nice and well built they also have a nice selection of places to eat and shop. We will be back on a warmer day 😀.

Brandon T — Google review

This was overall the most amazing best experience I have had ever. Been to a few zoos in Arizona and went to the Denver Zoo but none of them top this zoo. Everything from start to finish was amazing and the animals are very taken care of. You can tell this just isn’t a job for the employees but a family. The way they care for these animals and how educated they are speaks volumes. I went with my three children and spouse and it took about 3.5 hours to walk through the whole zoo but yes we would do it again ! The giraffe feeding was a plus and I love how it was the first encounter we had following the lion exhibit… now that was awesome ! Phenomenal job staff ! Will be returning very soon ! (:

Erica C — Google review

The thing that sets the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo apart from other zoos is the number of ways you can get up close and interact with the animals. Most animals have feeding experiences (giraffes, tigers, elephants, goats, chickens, birds) that are reasonably priced compared to similar experiences at other zoos. There are also multiple ways to interact with the environment as you make your way around (two interactive plays areas, beavers dens, caves, large sculptures to climb). It felt like equal parts modern art gallery and zoo in places and made for a great immersive experience. Many of the animals were active while we were there and staff went out of their way to interact with guests and answer questions about the animals. The only underwhelming exhibit, IMO, was the reptile and bird house. It had more of a pet store vibe looking at the snakes. For how well designed the rest of the exhibits are, I felt like they could do more in there. If you want to buy food they offer a decent selection of standard zoo food (burgers, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream), although prepare to pay zoo prices. I appreciated that they sold specialty coffee drinks at the Cozy Goat that were decent. We went at lunch time, and while it was hectic and busy, the line moved quickly.Be prepared to walk! Lots of incline walking because the zoo is in the side of the mountain. I loved the unique views this provided and the extra exercise, but for those not able to walk far, they offer a shuttle around for $3/day.The ski lift wasn't operating when we went, but looks fun! There's also a carousel to ride for a fee.

Dana H — Google review

Seriously the best Zoo we have been too. You get up close and personal with a lot of the animals. They take great care of all their animals and it's a very clean zoo. My favorite is feeding the giraffes and seeing the penguins up close! We are locals and bought a yearly family pass because the savings are amazing and we get to visit often! Well worth the trip, even in the winter!

Haley B — Google review

This zoo is definitely one of a kind! We got to feed the giraffe and walk up the mountain for amazing views. You could also feed elephants during specific times, but we missed that. There are also restaurants here to grab a quick bite or something to drink. Word of advice is to dress comfortably and bring your own water! Sunscreen is a must and definitely bring sunglasses and / or a hat!

Mae B — Google review

This was the best zoo I have ever visited. Of course the giraffes were amazing. (There are so many and many people fees them right by where by food but walk down and around the circle and they are on both sides hungry). There fans and water stations everywhere. Kids 4-16 loved it. Each animal area has a "play area" like a hippo that sprays water, jungle gym by monkeys, alligator play. The interactive place has a 🦥 sloth just hanging above your head!VERY IMPORTANT- it is a timed ticket entry. We arrived at 10 and were not able to get ticketed entry until 1. We went to old Town Colorado Springs and walked around and got ice-cream. (Recommend getting tickets ahead of time). We brought our wagon full of drinks and snacks in a bag and no one said anything. Highly recommend.

The zoo is an absolute delignt! The variety of species on display was truly impressive. It was a joy to observe these incredible creatures up close and learn about their behaviors and unique characteristics. The staff at the zoo were friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. To top it all off, the zoo provided a clean and well-maintained environment for everyone to enjoy. The pathways were well-marked, making it easy to navigate, and there were plenty of rest areas and refreshment options available.

Inna S — Google review

Fantastic zoo. I've been to both the Omaha and San Diego zoos and while those are also great, there was something special about this one. It felt much more intimate than those. The layout of the zoo is great and you really felt like it was an experience. It being on the side of a beautiful mountain certainly helped the ambiance. It felt more natural than most zoos. Highly recommend.

Dave S — Google review

What a great experience! We came late Sunday afternoon to fill our day in CO Springs and this place did not disappoint. The cold kept most of the crowds away so it felt like we had the place to ourselves and it seemed like the animals loved the lower temps too because every enclosure had active and moving animals. The indoor buildings were spaced perfectly that when we felt chilled we could duck right in and warm up. The staff was also very friendly and helped me get some great selfies with the penguins while they were out too!

Bryce H — Google review

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is such a unique and beautiful zoo to visit. It is the only zoo that is built upon a mountain side. This makes this particular zoo very unique because of the elevation change that you get when visiting the zoo. You can be higher on the mountain side and look over the rest of the zoo sitting below you. They have a lot of very spacious and well put together enclosures with many different and unique species of animals. I would highly recommend visiting the giraffe feeding area, where they is a tall boardwalk setup that you can walk around and be at the giraffes height and feed them by hand. I've visited many zoos and this one is probably the most unique and cool zoo to check out.

B A — Google review

Best zoo I've ever visited by far! It was worth the visit just to be able to get so close to the giraffes that you could actually touch one. I appreciated being able to see a lot of the animals in the outdoor and indoor enclosures. The grounds were impeccable, well staffed, and everyone was super friendly. We even got a bit of an impromptu tour and lots of helpful information from one of the staff. The views are absolutely amazing from this height. I would definitely go again and recommend this zoo.

Sarah H — Google review

I've been to several zoos but never expected one so nice at this high elevation! It's very well maintained and has more giraffes than any zoo in the country! My granddaughter loved feeding them! So did my wife! You can easily spend several hours there, and there are several places to hide in the shade on a hot summer day. This place is really worth seeing!

Kelly S — Google review

I love Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! I've come to this zoo since I was a little girl. Now, as an adult, I get to experience the zoo with my son as he grows 💙I love how much the zoo has made progress over the years for the animals, making exhibits bigger, easy to see the animals acting like their natural self in the wild.Love that you can feed the giraffes 🦒Ride a skylineSee the shrine with an amazing view of the springs. Overall I will continue to come here an experience it with my family over the years!! Thank you for being so awesome!

Ashley N — Google review

Great Mountain zoo. A new experience! Views are awesome. It’s at around 6700 feet and tucked in Colorado Springs. Tickets around $30. Shrine was under renovation so could not visit. They could have put that up on website. Saw many Giraffes, elephants, couple of mountain lions, and variety of animals. Plenty of restrooms. The whole park is few miles of walk.

So this was our first time to visit the zoo, and I can say that we had a great experience. This is definitely one of the best zoos I have ever seen. The settings for the most part are very nice. They have some great extra experiences available and the kids we saw were really having a fun time. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Went to the Electric Safari and wow it is so beautiful! They had an amazing drone show that was so cool! One of my favorite zoos. I love that you can interact with the animals. Feeding the giraffes is my favorite part :) Highly recommend going there anytime. But the Electric Safari was so much fun.

Nicole ( — Google review

This zoo is AMAZING! 5 star experience. Beautiful, clean, lots of interactive areas, clean bathrooms at every turn. Reasonable food prices. Very active animals and friendly staff. Feeding the giraffes was so fun and the first thing you walk in to upon entry. We’ve been to several larger zoos but this one takes the cake. Winding paths up and down the mountain made it unique to other zoos.

Jessica S — Google review

This place is incredible. It's not very big, set in a beautiful area around Broadmoor Resort. Lots of big animals and small. You can opt to feed some animals which kids loved. For a small zoo they had 13 giraffes and 6 elephants. Animals look very well taken care of. Highly recommend. We'll be back for sure

Steve G — Google review

I've been to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo a total of four times while I was stationed at Fort Carson, CO. I got the privilege of visiting the wonderfully cared for animals on Christmas day 2023 during the beautifully orchestrated Electric Safari event; I've been to two Electric Moonlight events; and one "regular" visit with my mother. Nothing is "regular" about this zoo!! Every time I got to visit, it was a new experience! I highly recommend a membership, and the advance ticket system works splendidly! All the staff is warm, kind, knowledgeable, and professional - you can tell they love the animals! The interactive experiences are fun for all ages!

Brittany N — Google review

This is an AWESOME zoo! There's a big variety of animals and several opportunities for animal interaction. You can feed some of the animals and many of them you get to see up close. The tiger walked right up to the viewing window it was great. Big animals like elephants hippos and rhinos, small animals and reptiles like snakes, lizards, penguins, birds and many in between. It is up and downhill but it's so worth the walk.

Jornai — Google review

It’s a really nice, clean zoo. It is hilly, but not impossible to walk around, just take your time. There are a few places to eat, they have a few beers on tap and a commemorative glass that you can get, if you bring it back to the zoo it gets you like a dollar off. You can walk around with your brew.Parts of the exhibits can get busy especially if the animals are out. Plenty of benches along the way to stop for a rest. Kid friendly with places for them to climb on things.Highly recommend if in town.

Tam H — Google review

i loved this zoo so much!!! i want to go back so bad!! by far the best ive been to!I got to feed and pet a Giraffe! it was cool being so close to the bears and wolves, it was almost like i could reach out and pet them! we were there from 6 am until like 4 pm, the food was great!

Tiana R — Google review

This is a must do when in the area. Feeding the giraffes was definitely a highlight, but having the pleasure of almost being nose to nose with mating penguins...AMAZING!!! I absolutely recommend driving up to the shrine (this is included with your zoo pass admission) as a delightful addition to the zoo. They are a non-profit that does not rely on tax income. So feel free to spend 💰 for a good and fun cause.

S — Google review

Currently lots of construction, but if it is going to end up like the waters edge addition, it's going to be great. Recommended for the price. Some enclosures are hard to see the animals (leopard for example). But mostly they are well made well kept, and the animals seem well treated.Giraffes are the highlight of the trip though!

Specialty Museums

Spencer and Julia Penrose started the Penrose Heritage Museum in 1941 as a place to house their personal collection of carriages. The carriages date back to the early 20th century and feature stories of their usage during that time. The museum is located next to the Broadmoor Hotel, which was started by Spencer Penrose himself. There is also an easy-to-follow exhibit about the history of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb racecar competition.

What a wonderful surprise! I couldn't believe it was FREE!! We very much enjoyed seeing all the different carriages as well as several race cars that had made the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Danielle S — Google review

Entered by accident and glad I did. Quiet, amazing step back in time to when the pace of life was slower and less complicated. One side horse & carriage, the other is Pikes Peak

Rick ( — Google review

Great museum featuring historic horse drawn carriages and vehicles from the Pike’s Peak Hill climb. Lots of interesting information on the history of the area and personalities associated with it and the mountain. There is a parking garage right next to the museum with paid parking and the museum offers stickers to place on the parking ticket good for a limited amount of free parking. Unfortunately our sticker didn’t work and we paid six dollars for the short time we were parked in the garage. There are several electric vehicle chargers in the garage right next to the valet office and only two of the chargers were occupied when we arrived. The elevator is right near the valet office and takes you up to the street level. We had to walk outside of that building across the parking garage ramp and then into the front entrance of the museum.

Bill G — Google review

This was a MUST ‘pit stop’ for any racing fan, especially fans of Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Attendees can get up close and personal with the actual record setting race cars. Video montages accompany many of the displays. The only disappointment was the lack of PPIHC swag: hats, t shirts, stickers, etc. I would have loved to have purchased something. Finally, the museum is FREE. I will be sharing this awesome experience will all my racing friends.

Snyder F — Google review

Not being a car guy, this museum had a great collection, with everything from horse drawn carriages, to the variety of sports cars that climbed/participated in the race up Pikes Peak. Really fascinating!

Totally loved it. Interesting history on the Penrose Family. The museum was free of charge. It's kid friendly and handicap acceptable. Also Interesting reading about the Pikes Peaks racing on the mountain.

Melody L — Google review

Fun museum of the Pikes Peak hill climb. And beautiful collection of carriages belonging to Mr. Penrose. The museum is free and if you park in the garage next to it they will validate your parking

Faith P — Google review

Beautifully staged museum...with two different focuses. One was the collection of the Penrose family carriages and other riding gear. Everything from big fancy full sized carriages to small donkey (or llama!) carts. All beautifully preserved and displayed. The other focus was the history of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race... something that had been run every year (except during the world wars) for over 100 years! Displayed are cars and motorcycles that have participated in the race over the decades. There is also a really good video to watch that really takes you through race's history. Even if you are not interested in racing, there are some very interesting characters and episodes that really bring the race to life. While the museum isn't very large, you can spend several hours there...especially if you take in the video.

Jennifer W — Google review

A wonderful public service museum honoring Spencer and Julie Penrose and their contributions to Colorado Springs. Lots of old carriages and Pikes Peak Hill Climb race cars. Liked the multi level display area. They validate 90 minutes of parking as well as being free. Exceptionally nice woman greeted me at the door as if I was someone important, which I am not. A refreshing experience. The Penroses would be pleased that their largesse lives on.

This was a very neat little museum, we spend about an hour looking around and reading all the information that was on the signs. I can say I know if we had brought our kids with us we probably would have only spent about 15 mins in here. but since it was just me and my husband we really enjoyed it.

The US Air Force Academy is a prominent military training facility in Colorado Springs, which attracts millions of tourists each year. It offers visitors a glimpse into the history and training of pilots and other airmen.

Visited the United States Air Force Academy in early August and was simply awestruck by the history, mission, character and quality of people who first organized the institution, all the graduates over time, and the proud character of the individuals attending the academy. Beautiful campus nestled in the north part of Colorado Springs, with plenty of space and neat, air-themed buildings. The chapel was under renovation/construction when we visited so we could not view it, but there are plenty of images and models around to get an idea of how beautiful and majestic the building is. We don't have any family members in the military, but we greatly appreciated the valuable opportunity to learn about this wonderful institution and the amazing work of the people associated with it. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

We visited the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in hopes that our daughter will be attending next year. It is a highly respected institution that is known for producing some of the most dedicated and skilled military officers in the United States Air Force. With a focus on integrity, excellence, and service, the Academy prepares its students to meet the challenges of military service with honor and distinction.Beyond its academic and ethical rigor, the Air Force Academy also offers a vibrant and diverse community for its students. Cadets come from all walks of life, and the Academy prides itself on fostering a sense of camaraderie and belonging. It would be a blessing to be a part of this prestigious academy.

What an impressive place! Not just the beauty and the organization of it, but the respect for the academy and the respect for the service is present. The size of the grounds is immense, and we only stayed on the roads, not having time to go on any of the walking paths. Even though the chapel is currently closed, we still learned a lot through the visitor's center, and the video they showed was informative as well. Would have loved to have had more time here.

John L — Google review

My husband made a second trip to get my prescription which said on the recording that it would be ready on Friday after 2:00 pm. He tried calling but they would not answer the phone and of course it was not ready again. Have no idea what is happening at the USAF Academy but the prescriptions now are never ready when they say it is in their recording. From now on we are not going to pick it up until we get text from them saying it is ready. Of course I am going to run out of this important medication.

The Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center is a historically significant building that was once the home of the Starsmore family. The center has been lovingly restored and is an important source of information about nature in Colorado Springs. There are several trails that lead through the park, and it's a great place to take a break from city life.

Very fond memories of living in the canyon and I always enjoy the Visitor Center. I was a participant in the Cheyenne Canyon Art Festival and sold several pieces and I'm always grateful for such a great event and inspirational area.

Fell in love with this place/trail. We first walked by the park ground for 10mnts or less. The lady with short hair with eyeglasses on told us to go up on the upper top area park trails so we went up there and met this lady(she has long blond hair told us to do/go (from the office to trail 5) long drive, not as creepy. Just be careful on how you drive. We walked 1st by the office then we drove from office all way to trail 5 till we get to 26th st of hwy 25?. It's worth driving around to the cliff not knowing what you gonna see. ALL OF THESE TRAILS ARE ALL CONNECTED from starsmore,heidee,7 falls

Easy to hard trails, recommend reviewing on OnlyTrails before venturing out.Would be better if my fellow locals put leashes on their dogs no matter how ‘nice’ they may be (also complying with the laws) and cleaned up after them! C’est la vie, unfortunately.

Such a wonderful piece of history tucked among the trees. Whether we are attending an organized event on the property or just hiking the trails into The Garden of the Gods; we are always appreciative of being able to "walk back in time."Our favorite thing about Rock Ledge Ranch is viewing the different barn yard animals and watching the crops and sunflower fields grow.

Awesome slice of history. I try to walk through here whenever I'm in the area. The blacksmithy is always a favorite followed by the indian area.

This is a living and working community run by City Of Colorado Springs and 2 foundations in Colorado Springs. Exploring is as much as you want it to be. It is open 24 hrs a day every day but Wednesday through Sunday they have tours through the community but I just walked through the property early one Sunday morning. The sheep greeted me. The horses were in the barn area. There was a person there tending the Garden. I saw trees with cherries on it. It was a nice walk. If you go online they have a few things scheduled over the month. The settlement goes back to 1775 when American Indians inhabited the area. In 1871, an immigrant from Scotland bought the land $200 and built a cabin that still stands. In 1874 sold to Chambers family for $1400 where they built their homestead that is there today. In 1900 Palmer, the founder Colorado Springs bought it for $17000 where he built house for his sister in law and her family. After his death, the property went into disrepair until bought by the city and 2 foundations. Lots of history here.

We went for the Family Fourth but didn't make it there until after lunch. Paying online you pay an extra $0.50 per ticket so just get them there. I feel like it was probably more entertaining in the morning. The afternoon seemed like all the workers were ready for the day to be done already and there weren't many scheduled events. It was nice to have the kids outside but after overpaying to get in because we bought online and then not feeling like we got our money's worth, we will either plan to be there earlier next year or just skip it.

Absolutely gorgeous. Photographers do need a permit to shoot here. So worth it ❤️

After visiting Garden of the Gods. we stopped in here for a quick tour. It was free to walk around. We took a tour of the 8k sq ft house and visited the gift shop. There are also animals and lots of tour guides to give you information on the lay of the land.Definitely recommend to grab some candy for your ride home! Give us a thumbs up if this review helps you! #crazykleinadventure

My family and I recently attended an event for children to explore the premises and interact with volunteers through short programs and activity stations. We have a 2 year old that was with us during our visit and she was participating in a program at one of the historical buildings. She was standing next to one of the exterior solid wood doors and the door fell off of the building and landed on her, knocking her over. She was severely traumatized from the accident to say the least.I understand the facilities are historic, but there is no excuse for a door to fall on a child during an event focused on children. After the accident I inspected the door and the wood the hinges were fastened too were clearly rotted through and should have been restored a long time ago. To make things worse, the manager of this facility, Melissa, pressed our family to sign a liability incident report within 10 mins of it happening. Our 2 year old was still crying and we were still assessing the extent of her injuries. The manager was immediately concerned for the liability of the Ranch and not the safety and well being of our family. She proceeded to ask me 2 more times to sign the document throughout the remaining time we were there. My wife and I were focused on our 2 year old and the last thing we should have to handle is the concern for liability of the Ranch, not just once, but 3 times.

My husband and I decided to go to Rock Ledge Ranch when we saw the parking entrance on our way out of Garden of the Gods…So glad we stop to check it out! We strolled the paths and stopped at each of the sites and listened to the detailed historic story of the ranch, beginning with the Native Americans who first inhabited the land. The docents, all dressed in period clothing and working the ranch, were exceptionally knowledgeable and were happy to answer all our questions. I was happy to see the youth docents and enjoyed speaking with them as well. There are animals on the ranch - cow, horse, chickens, geese..which kids would love to see. There are restrooms for your comfort and a General Store. My husband and I would highly recommend the Rock Ledge Ranch if you find yourself near Colorado Springs.

This is a beautiful park! Nice fall colors right now. It's free to go in if there isn't a living history program going on. Lots to see with all the trees, historic buildings and a pond.

Great spot for getting Littles out and about. On the 2nd and 4th Thursdays, they have a reading experience called Barnyard Buddies. Bonus that Garden of the Dogs is right next door.

Lived here in Colorado Springs for a few years and never heard of or even discovered this gem. Breathtaking the land the homes animals ect. A vintage feel very detailed tour guides. The ladies and gents were very articulate as well as very nice. The children who also aided in the tours and reenactments were also very nice and friendly. It was a lovely Saturday ~we spent the entire better half of our day at this well kept historic site. I would highly recommend if you are visiting or a native. For a History bunny like myself i enjoyed some of Colorado Springs historic past. This museum allows you to be interactive also. Grazie ❤️💜

My family discovered Rock Ledge Ranch in 2020 when my teens served as Junior Docents in the summer living history program. We fell in love with the place; the beautiful location at Garden of the Gods, the historical stories of people who made lives here in the past, and the dedicated and knowledgeable staff all add to the Ranch's charm. We've been members ever since and love to share this local gem with friends and family.

This was an excellent way to experience the past history of Colorado Springs. Beautifully restored and maintained ranch with knowledgeable docents who really represent the era in period clothing and guided tours. What a delight from start to finish. Highly recommend visiting here and Glen Eyrie Castle as well.

Hiking Trails

The Seven Bridges Trail winds its way through wooded canyons and across streams in the Cheyenne Canyon area of Southern Colorado. The moderate hike offers views of mountains and rushing water, making it a great choice for family hikes. There are seven bridges that hikers cross on the trail, making it easy to keep track of your progress.

Beautiful mountain hike not too far from town, but tricky road to drive on. Very popular (quite a few people) on the weekend. From the parking lot, there's a wide gravel road for easiest walking. Several bridges trail is a little more difficult with rocks, root branches, and some incline. But the progress markers of the seven bridges is fun, and it is nice to hike next to the mountain stream. Past the 7th bridge, the difficulty increases and number of people decreases, but it is neat to see different landscapes of the mountain and get good views. If you go past the seven bridges, be prepared for loose gravel. If it's the weekend, you might have to go really early or wait for someone to leave to get a spot in the parking lot. We got lucky & a morning hiker was leaving just as we got there. Late April/ early May, the weather was perfect.

Holly — Google review

I’m not as athletic so this hike kicked my butt getting through the seven bridges because of the inclines BUT it was worth it! It was easier going down :)!It took about an hour and a half to get to the seventh bridge from the parking lot and about 40 minutes to get back down to the parking lot. We took stops along the way from the parking lot to the entrance because it was so hot with the gravel road. Once you enter the entrance there is a little more shade so it feels a lot cooler.I would do this hike again just for the sounds of the creek while your hiking along it. :)

What an amazing hiking trail in Colorado Springs. This tranquil hike is just what I needed to clear my mind body and spirit from the fast pace life we live. My advice to new trailers, arrive early to get a parking space that best suits you. Bring water sun screen snacks and tissue for the port a potties. While walking the trail the water is continuous tranquil rushing waters throughout the entire hike. There’s areas where you can safely go down to the water to meditate out your hands and feet in or just to listen to add calm and stillness to your inner self. My daughter selected this holding trail a 5 star selection in my opinion. It’s 5 stars because the hike wasn’t too hard or too easy to reach the 7 bridges. The rushing water adds a beautiful scenic and natural sound to the hike which helps take your mind to a peaceful state. Every hiker should visit this trail at least once. Oh a look for the high waterfall that overlooks a bridge at a parking turn off spot.Enjoy !!

Great place to get out into nature without having to drive too far from the city. The trail head has portable bathrooms and a good bit of parking. If you wanna go for a more adventurous drive take the gold camp road to get great views of Colorado Springs

Hannah P — Google review

Lovely trailhead with many options off of it for your adventure needs in North Cheyenne Canon. Would like to note that this is also a parking for May's Peak and any of the areas off of High Drive. May's Peak offers a lovely view of the city and of Cheyenne Mountain. High Drive area is also excellent for mountain bikers. Dogs are always allowed. However, parking lot does fill up quickly! Really need to get here as early as you can if you want any parking.

Ryan P — Google review

Of all the trails in Colorado Springs that I have hiked, this is my go-to favorite!Stop by Helen Hunt Falls to get a photo and enjoy the beautiful cascade's and continue the drive up to the upper lot where you will have an opportunity to use the bathroom in fairly decent port-potties before embarking on your 5 mile hike! It's around a half mile walk to the trailhead for Seven Bridges, just past the Buckhorn Trail. There are truly seven bridges, flowing cascade's, lots of shade! There are a lot of roots, fallen timber and stair cases along the trail. It's honestly a workout for any skill level but easy enough for older kids. I see a lot of wary parents who end up carrying younger and fussy toddlers who's little legs just can't handle it. There are some slippery and steep areas. I have seen people slip and fall. Just be careful if you are new to the trail and bring plenty of water!I do recommend that you bring some water shoes and a towel to get in the water and cool off. Dogs love splashing in the creek as well.

Michelle P — Google review

I love the place, great place to hike but what a mess on the road going up. Huge potholes so take your time. You have to rely on other drives because it is one lane through a couple tunnels and on some parts of the road. Someone thought it was a good idea to bring a huge camper up there and couldn't proceed any further. And another drove a tire off of the side of the road hanging on the edge of the cliff. His skid plate was stuck on a rock. Only reason the car didn't go over. Not sure what happened with that Jeep. We went early on the weekend and when leaving there was no parking for many cars. Sad if you got all the way up there to have to get back down. They need to work on that road , make sure people know to beep before going into tunnels because its hard to back up especially with a line of cars behind you. Also huge vehicles like a camper are too wide for many parts of the road up and heavy. If it wasn't for the condition of the road it would be five star.

Anna S — Google review

Amazing hike! 3.5 mile with about 900 feet of elevation change, loved the views, and the sound of rushing water was a lovely addition to the hike. The thin air for sure humbled me, I'm used to hiking the Appalachians, but even being pretty out of shape I got this hike done, so it's accessable to a broad range of people.Large parking area with a portable restroom. Would highly recommend.

Cory — Google review

This is one of my favorite trails in the Colorado Springs area. Just the drive up there alone is fun. But the parking is absolutely atrocious. Don't arrive after 10am on a weekend or holiday. Or better yet visit on a quiet weekday. (If you are forced to use a lower parking lot, be prepared for a challenging and dicey hike up the road to the trail head. The trail itself is breathtaking. You really do pass over 7 bridges, and I'm reminded of scenic hiking trails in Japan. It's a challenging hike, but because the trail is fairly short most people should be able to do this one (taking breaks if necessary). Not many mountain views, but the nearby scenery is breathtaking.

Joshua N — Google review

Make sure you bring your walking shoes it's a pretty good hike just to get to the stairs and let me tell you the stairs are very steep I'm 42 years old I had no problems but my legs were definitely burning by the time I got to the top. Absolutely beautiful and worth it

Ryan B — Google review

GREAT family friendly trail. A little crowded during the day, but loved the opportunity to easily hike with my family (and one year old). Highly recommend continuing to hike after the 7 bridges trail starts going up the mountain. PHENOMENAL views!

Trail Series, Part 24“There are stars in the southern sky. Southward as you go. There is moonlight and moss in the trees. Down the seven bridges road.”The EaglesWhile we haven’t discovered the road The Eagles were singing about (yet 😉), I think we may be getting close!“The Seven Bridges Trail” is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and criss crosses the North Cheyenne Creek as you make your way up the mountain. While we didn’t spot the road The Eagles were singing about during our hike, we sure did enjoy the surrounding beauty before us!Although my running app reported that our round trip was nearly 4 miles and spanned a little more than 2 hours, I have reason to question those measurements. You see, my running app kept “fitness shaming” me by repeatedly “pausing” my workout claiming that my progress up the mountain was so slow that I appeared to be not moving…at ALL! Really??? That’s just rude! 😡In order to avoid allowing my insensitive running app to bring me down, I launched into a spontaneous and rousing rendition of “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt”, which surprisingly Dana declined to join me in. (Not sure what that was about. 🤷‍♂️ Seemed to me that the other hikers were at least amused.)This trail is challenging enough that I would rate it as appropriate for intermediate ability levels or above, and due to the icy conditions that we encountered I’d recommend packing crampon microspikes unless your hike is in the Summer. Also, don’t let the temperature in The Springs determine your clothing choices. When we left our hotel it was 49 degrees outside, which dropped to 32 degrees by the time we arrived at the trailhead just 25 minutes later. If you prepare appropriately, this is a terrific hike for those looking for something a little more challenging. And that’s…Henry’s Take.#fitnessshaming#hikingthesprings#coloradohiking

Henry V — Google review

Great trail and dog friendly! Out and back trail with a steady incline, fun decline, and river running next to you as you start your adventure. Dog must be kept on leash for their safety and yours as there are spots you’ll want your dog close to you. Each bridge is a like a checkpoint and you're surrounded by big healthy trees, boulders, can hear the flow of the river, and mountain sides. For those that like to scramble or climb, there are plenty of spots off the trail to explore.Depending on the time of year, wear good hiking shoes with traction as the trail will ice over since it is mostly shaded, bring water, snacks, and layer. Make a point to go off the beaten path when you get to the clearing of the river flowing and enjoy a picnic on the boulders. As you ascend, mind your footing and be courteous of other hikers, and their dogs. Near the end, there is not a marker showing that you have done all 7 bridges/made it to the end of the trail, so do not try to round the mountain as it will be like your own Lord of the Rings adventure. Once at the end, the views are breathtaking where you can look out in between the mountains, down in between the mountains, and enjoy being in the out-there.

Tom D — Google review

Mostly shaded in and out trail along the river. I would recommend good gripping hiking boots and some water. It's a little less than 4 miles round trip from the large parking lot. We went late morning during the week and there was plenty of parking. The winding road is fairly narrow.

Michael R — Google review

Hiked this yesterday morning. Way more snow than expected (and some ice) but still a very enjoyable hike! We turned around at bridge 7. Would love to come back when the trail is dry.

Rosemary S — Google review

Starts out little flat and boring and than it turns out the best hike you had. Yes, kids can count the bridges, you will get the workout and you all will spend splenid time outside. Must do while in the area. Parking is limited and your can park in the parking lot below, it is a short stroll up. Highly recommend

Beautiful area. Lots to look at. Bring water and an oxygen tank if you're from Florida like us. :-) Our second day in town and the altitude was tough. Still all in all the trails were well marked with great views. Everyone we met were really friendly. Colorado souls are super nice.

A slightly challenging trail. Mid Nov we walk through a pine forest and hit patches of snow and I've but not enough to require spikes. Ended up going up Kineo for the view.

Christopher M — Google review

This hike was beautiful! You cross 7 bridges (bridges 2 and 3 were my favorites) ascending into a gorgeous forest. The trail is clearly marked and easy. The parking was ample and no fee. There are several portable bathrooms at the parking lot.

The Palmer Park offers hiking and biking trails on a mesa overlooking the city of Colorado Springs. It has many facilities such as sports fields, horse stables, picnic shelters, a dog park, and a botanical reserve. The park is open all year and provides great recreational opportunities.

Whenever I need to get away and don't want to drive far, I drive to the top of Palmer park to free my mind. Been here for most my life and this is still the place to go. Great little hike trails, great playground and nice dog park too. The sunrises are my favorite😁

Beautiful and impressive place for hiking. There are many trails to choose and the park is huge, so definitely everyone will find something fitting - easy, medium or a bit harder trail. Rock formations are not so big like in Garden of the Gods, but for nature lovers surely great because of variety of shapes. Even experienced hiker will be busy for few days to be able to say that he saw everything. For me it's the best park in Colorado Springs.

Kajetan G — Google review

Plenty of nice and challenging trails. Many of the paths are crossing paths so be sure to check your map frequently. After the recent snow, the trails are very muddy in some places so be prepared to get your shoes a little dirty.

A Great Historical City of Colorado Springs park. There are many walking Trails to discover. This park also has a popular dog park. At the lookout point of the park there is a Grand view of the mountains and city. This City Park is truly a Colorado Springs treasure.

This place is a hidden gem. We just moved here and never imagine a park with such great views and hike paths in the middle of the city. We took our 6 and 8 year old through the Great View Trail and Cheyenne Trail and they had no problem with. Each hike path has visual markers identifying what it's suited for such as hiking or mountain biking. Plenty of places for great photo ops. Multiple places to park for free all around the park.

Great park, I live right next to it and use it as my main biking space, there are a lot of technical trails and also some easy ones. People are always friendly and don’t mind the bikers too much 10/10 would recommend.

There are a few hiking trails in Palmer Park! Also, some fields and gazebo’s. There is plenty to do for sure. It’s a great time and there are some beautiful views. I’ve been here about 5 times now and it never has gotten old to me!

My favorite of leash dog area in the city. Head up to yucca flats and let your dogs burn off some energy and make new friends along the way. Far enough from major roads to not have to worry about them getting into traffic, and great views of the city and mountains.

I have played the playground for about an hour and a half. They have three different play areas within the same distance, and two sets of swings. Definitely a park for all ages. Lots of places to sit and watch your Kiddos. Also, a good amount of parking to accommodate the amount of people who were there. Then we went and drove up to the top of Palmer park to walk the trails. I love how dog friendly the place is even though we did not have a dog. The kids absolutely enjoyed seeing all the animals, and you could just see the happiness on the dogs faces being off leash and running around. We took a long walk down the hillside, and then into the tree lines. The trail was great. It had been raining for the past few days and it was not too muddy, but it was definitely muddy in some spots.Entrails also used by biking groups and we encountered a couple while we were a few miles in.We walked back up to the top, and then we drove down to Lot 12 to look and climb the rocks. The kids had so much fun and would definitely recommend this park. For kiddos who do not have a bunch of hiking experience. This was a great park to get their feet wet. It gives lots of beautiful views, and the trail really feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere instead of in the middle of town.

Kind of wish there were more trash cans around and drivers were more conscious of pedestrians, but we are in the middle of the city. Great views and different trails to keep you entertained.

This is the most magical place I've been to so far, as it was my first time coming here from western Kansas. The 300+ foot elevation was a little challenging at first, but it was worth it for the views. The views outmatch the stuff that I am used to seeing on the High Plains. The people that I have come across walking the trails are super friendly (shoutout to Ellie and her dog, I am so glad I came across them -- they took me around a couple of trails!). The next time I come around, I intend on seeing more of Colorado Springs from any of the mesas or bluffs around!

A very tranquil park. The thing I liked most about this park was the lack of people and the quietness. I did the Templeton trail which has a superb view of Pikes Peak, the incline and Garden of the Gods, all in one photo. For being an inner city park, it is huge. I will be returning to this park to try out some of the other trails. Plenty of unique rock formations to picnic on and enjoy the mountain view.

I love visiting here whenever i visit the Springs. It's so beautiful, I've never seen anything like it. I actually prefer this place over garden of the gods.downside; There are lots of dogs and most of them are not on leash and people don't pick up after them either so be mindful of that.

Mountains

Cheyenne Mountain, one of the most famous and secretive attractions in Colorado Springs, is a 3 peaks and 2 forested parks attraction with hiking trails and cascading waterfalls. The mountain is also home to a crashed military plane that's been up there since 1957.

I've been twice and had a great time. As someone who's new to hiking I found this place a great starter environment for climbing up the side of a mountain. Starting at the trail head and ascending the mountain gave way to a nature walk that was breathtaking and wonderful. Between the tiny and big creatures and the amazing variety of plant life and rock formations there's something to behold at every corner. The Dixon trail is where it's at for scaling to the summit but get an early start. The ascent is about 3,000 ft from the trail head. On my 2nd visit I saw deer, wild turkey, humming birds, lizards, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels. I'm looking forward to returning in the colder months to hopefully see some elk and other big game.

This is a official complaint about the former residents of chyanne mountain complex in Colorado, I am officially making my statement about the US military members at that base as they have been abducting people using area 51 made ships used for abductions I was awake during all of the times i was abducted by colonel Samantha Carter of the us air force, and by Russian military members she works with at that base formerly used by SGC, I was abducted in the summers of 2001, 2002,2007,2008,2009, i called the fbi the Pentagon they hanged up on me after I said truthfully about what happened, and I sent my statements to the fbi numerous times, and i still don't have justice, so don't trust our own military members and don't trust our government, this is a freedom of speech truthful official statement.

This beautiful mountain contains NORAD, and antennae farm, the Horns with Cloud Camp, & the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. But you don't need to go to the zoo to see wildlife here. Regular visitors in the wild include bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, an occasional skunk, large rafters of turkeys, and tons of mule deer. It is an enjoyable place for bird watching of perching and tree clinging birds and hawks. There are several places to hike, but trailheads are not advertised.

The Olympic Training Center is a state-of-the-art athletic complex that is home to 14 different sports, with the ability to house athletes and coaches from both the Olympics and Paralympics. With world-class facilities like a swimming pool and shooting range, it's a behemoth in Colorado Springs. Tours are available for visitors who want to see how the athletes prepare for physically and psychologically demanding competitions.

Very cool place no matter if you are really into the Olympics or not. Even if you don't take the tour of the front area of the main building Is free to roam. Lots of cool displays, info, video projections. Even a pin ball game. Big souvenir mech shop with some nice things. Will definitely be back to take the tour.

This place was incredible. The tour was incredible! As a former collegiate boxer, seeing the facilities that the world's best train in was astounding and gave me goosebumps. I want to especially call out the tour guide. I am terrible with names but he was from Brooklyn and ran track in college. He was awesome, knowledgeable in EVERY sport that was mentioned and relayed the awe of the entire facility very well.

Great experience touring the OTC for the second time. We did this tour about 5 years ago and it's changed a decent amount since then as the OTC has changed and supports different sports currently. Our tour guide, Ashley, was wonderful and easy to book with. The price of the tour is really reasonable, it's accessible, a good length, and goes into good depth on life at the OTC. It would be fun to see more athletes training but that seems a bit seasonal. The gift shop selection needs a bit of help, otherwise great!

I appreciated the tour guides firsthand stories about seeing some of the Olympians like Michael Phelps on site over the years. We did the Bronze tour and it was comprehensive enough for us. Next time I will try one of the other tours to compare. It was inspiring! Beautiful facility.

So cool to get a behind the scenes look at where some of the best athletes in the world train to compete at the top of their game. One of 2 Olympic training centers in the US alongside Lake Placid. Our tour guide Bob was super knowledgeable about the athletes and facilities. Even took some trivia curve balls we threw at him in stride and definitely knows his stuff! Some 15 yrs of experience working at the center!Every athlete we ran into throughout the campus was super friendly yet you could tell they were extremely focused on what they were there to do.Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Chris S — Google review

My friend and I arrived to the center at the start of a tornado warning. The center made sure everybody was safe by sheltering in place with good communication throughout, letting us know the status of the tours. Our tour guide, Bob, did a fantastic job keeping us out of the weather and showing us the ins and outs of the facilities where the Olympians train. He was very knowledgeable, entertaining and flexible. We even saw some Karate sessions! Highly recommend.

So very inspirational! The dedication and commitment is inspiring!! Shout out to Madison Champion 🏆 for an excellent tour!!! We are her biggest fans now and wish her success 🙌 🙏

I enjoyed the experience but the tour I received just felt like the guide picked up the gig at the last moment on their way to lunch and kinda put half effort into it. It felt like we mainly walked outside and looked at the facades with a, "we can't go in there but this is what goes on in there" statement. We were lucky enough to see a couple olympians training while we were there (katie ledecky). It overall felt like it should have been a donation entry. The tour conveniently ended at the pro shop where they attempt to charge you $75 for a plain shirt with the USA logo, $125 for a plain duffle bag with the USA logo, etc. Way Way Way too expensive for a gift shop.

Sergio T — Google review

We went on the bronze tour. It took about 2 hours, and we were able to see the conditioning space, rehabilitation center, pool, basketball court, wrestling and boxing rooms, and shooting range. I haven’t visited the OTC since early 2013 and I’m so impressed with how different the facilities are now! Amelia Moore was our tour guide and she facilitated an incredibly captivating, joyous, and entertaining tour full of fun facts and little stories. Highly recommend! ***Google maps took us to the employee and athlete entrance - the entrance for visitors is a left turn at the light before google will tell you to turn, if you are coming from Platte ave.

A.D. — Google review

Thank you for such an incredible tour, Mike! My kids loved seeing athletes train and the facilities. We are very excited to watch the Olympics in July and cheer on the USA team!

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! I spent the money on the Gold Tour and it was worth it. Had an awesome guide who took us everywhere and met Coach Zadick, HC of the Freestyle Wrestling team (big for me as I am a wrestling fan). Then got to have lunch with our group in the Athlete dining hall.

Matt C — Google review

Showed up for tour at about 1:40 planning for the 2:00. They said they weren’t doing any more tours due to being short staffed. If that’s how it is then make your tours by appointment. This isn’t exactly a cheap option ($28X4 for my family). So now I have some tickets…we will hopefully make it back and get what we paid for but it’s hard to see how I could end up recommending this place to someone. Bottom line - I recommend you call before buying tix and getting in the car. This place can’t be trusted.

Glen Eyrie Castle is a refined hotel located in an 1871 castle that offers picturesque mountain views, hiking trails, and a complimentary breakfast. Its historic charm and luxurious accommodations make it a must-visit destination. The dining room serves meals that are sure to satisfy your taste buds while the Grand Room provides ample space for special events. The suites on the third floor are superbly designed with upscale furnishings complemented by stunning views from the windows.

What a gorgeous historic hotel and property! Living in Colorado Springs, we've visited several times for special events and afternoon tea, but this is our first time staying on property. We're attending a marriage retreat here and love everything about the property. Meals in the dining room, sessions in the Grand Room, and we have a beautiful, huge suite on the third floor. Beautifully appointed and so special to stay in a historic castle property with such a rich history. Views out our windows are spectacular, and the castle itself, as well as the gorgeous grounds, are just really special. Highly recommend staying here and taking long walks through the spectacular grounds.

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! This place is breathtaking the views are amazing! We made reservations for tea time and the tea was so good. The serving sizes were perfect even my husband enjoyed them and got full which is saying a lot. We went in the fall so we experienced a lot of pumpkin flavors different spices, which was great. I have no complaints about this place. We absolutely loved it. It was on my bucket list for a while. The ambiance was so serene and our waiter Austin was so nice and attentive. The staff was friendly as well.

Alexa C — Google review

I've lived in Colo Spgs for 45 years & this was my first time having tea at the Glen Eyrie Castle. It was a most enjoyable experience. The menu was delightful and I was honored to have the pleasure of meeting the manager as well as the very competent chef. I would highly recommend this facility. It would be a great place to take out of town guests for a treat. Thank you to the wonderful staff!!

Linda M — Google review

First time attending High Tea at this castle. We forgot to wear our fascinators, and wish we had to pair with the elegant atmosphere. We also stopped by the bookstore and ordered more tea and a cappuccino. Beautiful grounds.

International C — Google review

What a beautiful facility at an affordable price. Although I thought I was actually staying in the castle itself it ended up being one of the lodges near the castle but it was fine. Most rooms do not have television so be aware of that. The staff was exceptional the views were majestic and this location was near affordable diners and other shopping facilities. This is a non-alcohol non-smoking facility. Your breakfast is served in the actual castle so this will be fun. The surrounding area is filled with wildlife of which many turkeys are running wild on the grounds. Love this location.

Valerie D — Google review

Loved this place. I only stayed one night and was there about 12 hours but it was great. I wish I could've stayed longer to explore the trails on the property. The location is great if you're wanting to do Pike's Peak, Garden of the Gods, or Cave of the Winds. Check in was super easy. Since we were getting in late and the front desk would be closed, we checked in at the gate and received all the information we would need for our stay. The castle is very well kept. My room was a little small and had a bit of peeling wallpaper but was otherwise immaculate. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. Will definitely stay here again.

Sarah S — Google review

Glen Eyrie is one of my favorite places in Colorado Springs. The castle is beautiful, the tour was fun and educational. Went with my husband for the tour, we were curious about the tea room and although you have to reserve before, they had space and let us in and gave us the table right in front of the window. They made our experience even more romantic and cute. I'm so grateful. The staff is so nice and caring. The views are beautiful. We went during winter and the snow made it even more beautiful and dreamy.

Andrea H — Google review

Had a fantastic time here! The castle and grounds are gorgeous. Like DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! Tea time was an absolute hit. The service was amazing. Everything was presented with the utmost attention to detail. It looked magazine worthy, really. The tea room was beautiful. I loved every single thing served. Absolute must-do in the area. If you are a guy reading this, RUN, don't walk, to get a reservation for the special person in your life. They will be thrilled!

Roxy B — Google review

We loved our stay at the top of the Castle at Glen Eyrie! We only stayed one night, but the room was so neat and a fun stay for my husband, myself, and my two young boys. The king size bed with a pull out couch was perfect for the 4 of us! (My boys are 4 and 7, so the pull out couch was just fine). We enjoyed the beautiful views, the wild animals, and the GLUTEN FREE breakfast!! My 4 year old has Celiac disease and can't have lactose, so finding him things to eat can sometimes be challenging. EVERYTHING on the breakfast bar (except the burritos) was gluten free-eggs, sausage, fruit, etc. They even had gluten free cereal and lactose free milk- that REALLY made this momma heart happy!

Amy W — Google review

Fabulous is the only word to describe the day at Glen Eyrie. We started with the Victorian tea and it was perfect. The tea room is possibly one of the prettiest rooms in the castle. To be able to sit in such a sweetly decorated room, enjoying great food and wonderful tea with soft classical music playing... Perfection in our minds. Then we had the tour. An hour ish long and so informative. The gentleman giving the tour was very entertaining and knew so much of the family and castle history. It was well worth reserving and paying for the tour. And then to be able to walk around the grounds on our own was relaxing and awe inspiring. This has been the highlight of our trip so far. One of the best things to do in Colorado Springs in our opinion! We will be back!

LaTrisha M — Google review

I attended afternoon tea here, and it was lovely. The tea was fantastic, and the food paired perfectly. The price was very fair considering the amount of food they served. The atmosphere was so nice as well. I will definitely attend again and leave some extra time to explore.

Jordan C — Google review

It was so pretty!!! Such a cool experience to stay in an actual castle. The views on the trails behind the castle are beautiful!! You don't really have to go to garden of the gods to experience it if you're staying at Glen Eyrie. You can actually even walk in to it FROM the castle since they're so close together!!Definitely recommend going here!!

Allyson W — Google review

Glen Eyrie is one of my favorite places to visit in the entire city of Colorado Springs, so when my mother told me she was coming to visit from Arizona, I wanted to make sure to plan something extra special and it was a no-brainer to make a reservation for tea at the castle. The food and tea service was wonderful as always, but what made this visit in particular so great was getting to meet Bruce, one of the Glen Eyrie volunteers. He was so kind and welcoming, and he took the time to give us a tour around the castle. He was so knowledgeable and told us all about the rich history as he showed us around the property, and it was obvious how passionate he is about volunteering at Glen Eyrie and his love for the castle. My mom and I both agreed that he was what made our day at the castle so special, so we wanted to make sure to find some way to get Bruce recognized for his kindness and for going above and beyond for us. Thank you Bruce for the castle magic you shared with us, and thank you to Glen Eyrie for sharing the beautiful property for everyone to see. It has a palpable sense of serenity and peace that keeps me coming back time and time again.

Christina D — Google review

This is a large estate next to the garden of the gods with its own rock formations as well as a gatehouse, carriage, house, 19th century castle, and multiple lodges. It is owned by a Christian organization called the navigators, which I had not heard of before despite being a Christian myself, which I think would make it a great conference center for Christian groups and retreats. Anyway, I was only stopping through the area and drove up to the gate hoping I’d be allowed to explore the grounds and as it turns out, it is free to park and explore the grounds, which includes a garden and what I believe were several hiking trails. I spent about an hour walking around the gift shop (carriage house) and the garden before I had to keep moving. The carriage house is also a cafe, where you can buy art, books, mugs, coffee, etc. The interior of the castle and lodges are only accessible for overnight guests, though I believe they mentioned there are teatime tours. I also saw a few fun birds like northern flickers and wild turkeys! I’d love to come back.

Danielle C — Google review

What a great place! I've been to the Garden of the God's many times and never knew it was there. Beautiful doesn't begin to express how impressive it is. Please take the time to go on a tour to understand how impressive it is.

Vickie W — Google review

Such a wonderful experience trying high tea at Glen Eyrie. The atmosphere was magical and majestic. It feels like you are in another timeline. The service was amazing. Our server check up on us the entire time and made sure we were okay til the end. Food was good but we wished that there were more proteins and bread. There were lots of bread! Although good, it was a bit overwhelming and not much variety. That was the only criticism throughout our entire experience. For $36 for high tea, I wish they offered more variety and portions of protein. After tea, we got to walk around the facility was it magical. Lots of hiking areas and there were wildlife everywhere! Good experience!

Starr Kempf's Kinetic Sculptures are an impressive collection of kinetic sculptures depicting the graceful movement of the wind. Located in a private residence in Colorado Springs, these pieces are a popular tourist attraction for visitors to the area.

These pieces are amazing and the homes owner didn't seem to mind us stopping by to snap a few pics. I would have loved to see them all in motion, but it looked like one was out of commission, still a great stop in a very sweet neighborhood. Hard to believe an artist with so much whimsy and talent would take his own life. Glad his daughter has kept his legacy going.

Li C — Google review

Amazing. Such craftsmanship. I cannot understand why anyone made them dismantle them. I would love to have one. That man had talent pouring out his fingertips.

James D — Google review

Wha... What?!? This is in somebody's yard. There's an iron fence and a lock on the gate. I went at 10:30 on Saturday morning expecting a public park but I found private property. Over the fence and through the trees, the four sculptures look kind of cool, but I couldn't tell if they were stationary because of low wind, or maybe they were locked in position. My child and I were were disappointed. 2 Stars.

Bowe W — Google review

Absolutely beautiful art/sculptures! So worth the drive. If you are in colorado springs a must see place.Enjoy!!

Maydee M — Google review

Situated in a residential area at the base of the Cheyenne Mountains are Starr Kempf Kinetic Sculptures. He started making the windmills in 1977. There is no parking in front but there is a pull off across the street. Also there is a parking lot few feet down the road. As I understand, there were more sculptures but the neighbors didn't like the traffic, so a court order made the family take them down. There are still 5 of them still there. There are a couple in downtown Colorado Springs. I visited on a windy day and it was awesome.

Lyndee D — Google review

Beautiful sculptures, but no access to get in so we could see past the trees and bushes. Understandable since its a private home.

Tammy C — Google review

A very unique and unexpected artistic hidden gem at the base of Cheyenne Canyon. I would highly recommend taking a tour guide with you to give additional information and background on Starr Kempf's life, and not just his art. Additionally, I would recommend visiting on a windy day to fully see the movent and grandeur of each sculpture he has created. Let us all continue to visit and keep this piece of of Colorado Springs culture alive for generations to come.

Austin M — Google review

Okay, so these are cool and if you're close by, we thought it was worth driving up to see. These are large, metal sculptures in a backyard. You spend about 15-20 minutes looking at them and taking pictures.

Rebecca U — Google review

Definitely worth the trip out but only has maybe 10-15 minutes of content so temper your expectations.

Evan B — Google review

Came across these beauties unexpectedly. What a treat! Amazing artwork.

Kat G — Google review

Gorgeous sight. Loved the sculptures and how they moved and the creativity. Apparently, Colorado Springs has several of his sculptures.

Located atop Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun is a beautiful and popular historical landmark dedicated to American humorist Will Rogers. The shrine offers stunning views of Colorado Springs and the pretty Pikes Peak Region, as well as divine interment for Julie and Spencer Penrose. There are various activities on offer for visitors, including hand-feeding giraffes, which is always a hit with kids.

After you visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo you can drive through the zoo gates to drive up to the shrine, it’s well worth the just over a mile drive.

Finn E — Google review

Absolutely amazing view. Came on a weekday in March just before a snowstorm hit that evening. Me and my fiancé were alone for 20-30 minutes before someone else drove up. Entry was included with the Zoo ticket so it was a no brainer to drive up here. The sounds of the crowds and traffic were nearly absent. Just the wind and the birds. Chapel is a nice touch to this location. You feel a bit closer to God.

Caden H — Google review

Historic monument built by Spencer and Julie Penrose starting in 1934 and completing in 1937. The entrance to the outside Shrine is free but must pay Cheyenne Mountain Zoo admission to drive there as that is the only way to get there. It is a 1.4 mile drive up from the entrance to the zoo. The zoo is at 6800' and the Shrine is at 8136', so it's a beautiful drive with amazing views. At this time, there is no entry inside the Shrine.. I inquired via phone and was told the inside is being remodeled.

Lynn D — Google review

Will Rogers Shrine of the Son is part of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo so it’s free if you buy a Zoo ticket at 30.00 or less. The tower is not handicap accessible having been built around 88 years ago. Standing at 5 stories tall - 100 feet. It commands an astounding view all the way to Pikes Peak. The chimes can be heard for up to 20 Miles.“ In 1934, Spencer Penrose, who had already built the Pikes Peak Highway, The Broadmoor, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, began constructing the singing shrine as a resting place for him and his wife, Julie. This was after Spencer was diagnosed with throat cancer. At nearly 8,000 feet above sea level, Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun serves as the final resting place for Spencer and Julie Penrose, as well as a destination to experience extraordinary”If you haven’t visited it it’s a serious piece of history.

Lonnie M — Google review

This place is very interesting. Amazing views of Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. You must drive through the zoo you get up to the top. Zoo admission is required but if you have a season pass to the zoo you are allowed to use that as you're admission. No food or drink allowed in shrine. Not exactly stroller or wheelchair accessible but can be done. Great place to visit.

Aaron E — Google review

Must purchase zoo ticket to be able to go see this shrine. This place is so weird to me you must see it in person to see why I would say that. It is well kept. It has a creepy vibe though. Almost haunted like vibes. Great views of the surrounding areas. Just a mile higher than the zoo. It world be neat for a wedding or event. There is alot of steps.

Tabi — Google review

The road to the Shire requires visitors to buy a zoo pass to enter the gates and access their service road. Worth the time to visit. Make sure you’re there during the bells chiming.

Tom S — Google review

Very interesting but beautiful shrine. Definitely worth visiting if you’re going to Cheyenne zoo. Plus you get to drive straight through the zoo on the way up to the shrine and get great views of the animals. By the parking, there is a small museum that gives the history of the shrine and the people it’s dedicated to. The shrine is painted on the inside and I believe is three stories tall with great overlooks at each floor. If you walk down the left staircase next to the entrance, there is a small room with a painting of Mary and Jesus. Overall great place

Dusty_marshmello — Google review

The drive is not for the faint of heart. Once you get to the top, the view is in another league. Just imagine how hard it was to get all the materials up the mountains to build this must have been out of this world. If you’re ok with heights then this is you’re stuff. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Shannon F — Google review

This is a neat stop if you're already going to the zoo. The views are incredible and the structure itself is beautiful! Admission is free with a zoo ticket. You need to see this at least once!

Kasey S — Google review

It's a nice bit of history like a small museum, went with my grandpa and had a good time admiring the shrine and the views

William W — Google review

Great view, the guide was super nice and knowledgeable. First let me say it kind of annoys me that the zoo doesn’t tell anyone about this place or advertise in anyway. If you buy a ticket for the Zoo you can pass through the gate to go to the Shrine. If you have 4 people in the car you have to have 4 Zoo tickets though. Also your Zoo ticket is good for 2 weeks to go to the Shrine. I wish i knew that before buying one on Monday and again on Thursday. The Shrine is very well cared for, they maintain the road up even in the winter months. There are clean restrooms in the building in the parking lot. The drive up is not scary just go slow and watch for cars coming around the narrow corners. The view is so cool! Ask the guide questions, it was so great chatting and learning from him. He pointed out all the sights that have plaques and explained a lot to me. It’s called the Shrine of the Sun because it is the first point the sun hits as it raises and the last thing as it sets. So cool. The stairs are not bad at all, there is a landing at each level to pause if you need to go slow and catch your breath. The shrine plays music every 15 mins and a whole song at certain hours each day. Such at fun little thing to do if you are already at the Zoo, don’t miss it.

Brandy M — Google review

Phenomenal experience! Great views and the history is powerful.

Ashley G — Google review

This was a beautiful stop! It's included with zoo admission and you drive through the zoo to get to the Shrine. Beautiful area at the top with a gorgeous view! There was about 96 stairs to the top but it wasn't too bad and there are rooms on several flights to take breaks at if need be.

History Museums

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is a museum located in the 1903 El Paso County Courthouse that focuses on regional history and rotating exhibits of art, Native American culture, and more. The museum has free admission.

It's an old county courthouse and it's beautiful inside and out. Very well kept with the largest courtroom beautifully restored and open to tour. It has two levels and any number of displays with items from the 1800's to date. The 1917 birdcage elevator is in working order and takes you back in time when you step in it for the ride!

Tony R — Google review

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit here. Getting to take a ride in the birdcage elevator was so cool!! The alphabet exhibit was fun, we went back and forth reading them all in order. Our favorite part was the old courtroom, it is beautiful! Sitting in those chairs makes you think of all the history in that room. Also, the front desk lady was very nice and admission is free.

Bailey W — Google review

Had so much fun here. My daughter loved walking through the “old west” street, and looking in the buggies and “business” fronts. Lots to enjoy for a not-so-large museum.

Viking_4Rok — Google review

Great museum and very informative - to include free admission. The docent was very helpful - very glad that they saved the old courthouse and made it into a museum rather than tearing it down for a parking lot! Some very informative exhibits about the history of Colorado Springs. Highly recommended for 2-3 hours!

Ryan S — Google review

Excellent museum ! All is interesting. The display shows the life in Colorado Springs by the time of the pioneers. Remarkable citizens and claim for human rights have a good space and very interesting documental material plus the claim for human rights which I advise you take your time to sit and watch. The admission is for free !!! and it has a small museum shop where they can reply all your questions. I recommend it !

Cecilia F — Google review

My family and I loved it, and will be going back again! The volunteers were so friendly and everything was amazingly well kept. It was really neat to get to see the history of Colorado Springs.

Ariana A — Google review

The old courthouse building is beautiful. The old Otis birdcage elevator was fun to ride in. We enjoyed the exhibits and learned a lot about local history. The teen volunteers were friendly and provided additional information. I highly recommend visiting.

Linda F — Google review

Beautiful museum filled with artifacts and antiques. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The grounds were immaculate. The price is unbeatable, free! A must see if you want the history of Colorado Springs.

Terrall P — Google review

Great history, free but can make donations. Greeted by a friendly person with lots of information and explained the buildings history. Very glad they didn’t tear the place down. Rode the bird cage elevator and sat in the old court room!

Donald M — Google review

The Pioneers Museum is a great place to spend a few hours. The historic courthouse is such a unique and neat building. Their variety of exhibits tell interesting, important stories about the history of the pikes peak region.

Abby K — Google review

It's definitely worth a visit. Enjoyed the newer exhibit, which highlights a particular historical artifact for each of the 150 years that CO Springs has existed. Be sure to take the antique elevator up to the second floor. Kids love it. A visit is free, but they appreciate a donation.

Chuck B — Google review

We love this place (and the free price doesn't hurt either). My little kids 10 and under love the play room with a teepee, general store, and more where they can play pioneers. The rest of the museum has many good exhibits, and when we were there on a Saturday there were several volunteers around the museum explaining various exhibits.

Robert H — Google review

This was a great museum! The staff was very friendly, the displays were fascinating, and the building was beautiful! I learned a lot from the displays about the history of the area. Highlights for me were the artwork of Mrs. Van Briggle, the elevator, the change machine, the qr code tour with questions about various places or exhibits (although the baseball question I got wrong because the display was misleading). I also really loved Helen Hunt Jackson's house!!
